You said exactly the same as another wise person I asked .

Honesty is another hard pill to swallow though, Lao. When you REALLY start noticing that things hit you harder than you'd thought, that you'd thought of yourself as steady but you're actually kind of weak, that the face you paint isn't all that similar to what you're realising is at the core...and that you're the only one who can sort these things out, but if you're honest you don't know how.

this is intjf - surely the interaction doesn't need to be any more wordy than 'your argument is invalid and i view this with cool displeasure'.

i love hearing these things from you laotzu, thanks i totally relate to what you're saying, i'm a little bit in the nihilism phase myself, it's not all encompassing, i manage to separate myself from it a bit...but i guess that's not the point! i guess the point is to rush into it head first and see what can be gained...but i'm not brave enough yet.

question: is honesty the same as purity of heart? if 'purity of heart is to will one thing', can you gain honesty (in words and actions) by focusing on one thing with sincerity and persistence?

I love stuff like that, mindblowing . The only thing is, it makes me feel like nothing I do matters, humanity doesn't matter. Because its effect on anything on a grand scale is so miniscule. And that's a bit depressing. I think it'd be so easy to be an astronomer and a nihilist.

haha that rep was the most generic, stupid question i've ever asked, don't answer it. haha - let me paraphrase - lao tzu, do you think that everyone's experience of life is exactly the same as everyone else's? if not, why not?

hey man, i was going to PM you but looks like that's against the rules...i was reading a Taoism thread from a couple of years ago, and was wondering whether we could have a chat about it, as your post gave me a bit of solace!! i'm practising tai chi and have an instructor who is trying to guide me down the path of taoism, and a mind that on the one hand doesn't want any of it, and on the other really wants to pursue it...

Haha can I see? And no way that rhetoric that Assange is a terrorist deserving death and a $50k cherry on top could ever lead to vigilante justice.
