No, I'm not the owner, but at least I have the sense to not make a nuisance of myself in the owner's blog. And you wonder why you get ignored.

Nothing needs to be highlighted. If you don't like the way things are done around here, nobody's making you stay.

Never thought there could be something worse than Twilight. Hopefully, nothing will be worse than this.

Yep. For this reason, I learned to be careful who I share my J (judging) with.

Oh....and.....you are not allowed to be offended by anything i've typed. It is merely expression of how I feel. If you show even the slightest sign of being offended I shall smother you PM box with pleasantries until you realize I am not an enemy. I'm just a person with certain beliefs. Perhaps many of our beliefs are different......I can't say for sure....but I DO KNOW that TONS of our beliefs/wishes/dreams are the same!

Not sure what makes you feel I'm frightened about differences. If you knew me as a person you probably wouldn't say that /shrug. This "illusion of peace" you speak about...how does reminding us of our differences VS embracing our similarities fit in with your comment? My intention is and has always been to judge a person based on how they respond to my actions. I try to use empathy along with an understanding of current moods and life situations of the person I'm interacting with. I do not embrace thinking that continually differentiates people. The truth is my skin is a certain color. Your skin is a certain color. Neither of us, as decent human beings, has the right to focus on keeping us divided due to culteral experiences, sexual preference, skin color, net worth, etc. As I say to my friends......we are nothing special....we are all just hooman beans! LOL

It's not really a love story, more so it is about how women are perceived and perceive themselves in regards to sexual freedom

It is about a black woman who as a very young woman is sent off to be married but runs away with another man, they find success in a small town and after a while this man passes away after an unremarkable marriage. She falls in love with a much younger man and runs away with him, has an adventure and then she comes back to her town to live out her life. It's written in narrative style. The woman has come home after this adventure and tells the whole truth to her friend in an honest straight-forward sort of way. My description blows, but since we were talking about Black History yesterday I thought I'd ask. That book and "Man-child in the Promised Land" are my two personal favorite pieces of Black literature. Anyway, I always really loved the first book I mentioned because the author wrote about a touchy subject that I personally can relate to.

Hello Lady Spock, have you ever read "Their Eyes Were Watching God" by Zora Neale Hurston? Excellent book.

The point I'm trying to express in your black history thread is that the more we exemplify our cultural differences, the more we may divide ourselves. The undeniable truth is that we have much more in common as compared to how much we are different due to skin color, etc. The sooner we stop saying, "hey! I'm different than you due to skin color!" the sooner we move beyond the mentally created barriers we impose on each other.
