Nice choices; beautiful memories, I hope.

I especially like Shel Silverstein, and rather than knowing him for his poetry and books as I came across them later in life, I first 'heard him' when Johnny Cash sang his 'Boy Named Sue'. Great song; great memories

I'm glad Dallas is like that. My 'Song' given to me by a friend is Black Dove by Tori Amos... captures best part of 'feelings' I have about kin in Texas (Kris Kristofferson does that well, too; he's from there).

Yeah, this town is great for us, at our age. If we were young, no way: No bus; no cab; lost the theatre; Gromit has to commute to another city for work; a lot of 'not here stuff' but laid back, and safe, and friendly...

And no one cares about my buzz-cut, which is interesting as Ohio has a reputation for being small-minded, and in many ways, certain areas are, and this is a small town, former farming community, but no one, ever, has made me feel odd about my hair... except this one really ugly racist older lady... and well, she had a lot of ugly to say about a lot of 'groups', so 'take that with a grain of salt'.

Otherwise, this is a great little community.

Don't know when Gromit will be home; I know he is out doing the right thing, helping a family, because it isn't just the couple; they have two boys (I met them at church; lovely ones, too), so I am glad to be up later than usual, for this kind of reason

The people in San Diego are diverse in terms of country of origin, but in terms of 'assimilation to city's culture', they are, for the most part: Scared; into looks above all else; unable to engage in a serious conversation that does not involve pop culture, and otherwise are 'eh' as you say.

But oh the weather, when you are this kind of constant ill, and in pain; oh damn, the weather!

    And such is life...

Nice thing I missed about Ohio, and it's true here in 'mid-Ohio' is we take care of each other, so Gromit came home a bit ago... said a couple is in trouble, got nowhere to live, is staying at our church... So he got our air mattress, I told him where extra pillows were, and he grabbed some other necessities and went back out.

That does not happen in San Diego. I mean, we fed the homeless, but when we were in any kind of trouble, it was 'every person for him/herself', you know, 'survival of the fittest'.

So, in the long run, if I get through this long, rough patch, we'll be OK

I'm glad yours has been a good move.

I grew up in Ohio, really bad childhood, memories; and for auto-immune 'continental climate' is one of the worst... but Gromit wanted to come back here; he didn't factor in aging, how much aging... and we didn't have much in the way of choices as his company was bought out by a huge corporation, and they began making big staffing cuts, starting with mid-management kinds of positions, as is typical...

Here, the money is low; jobs scarce; weather nuts...

The only place in the United States good for auto-immune, and reminds me least of childhood, was San Diego, but it was far too expensive, crowded, out of the question, any longer.

I hunkered down for winter because of the bitter cold; I'll be hunkering down for summer because of the extreme heat (I have fainted since I was a toddler from some kind of circulatory problem). And so it goes...

If we can get my office together; if I can start doing yoga again; and get Corker her companion so she is happier, and 'they, together' are fun to train, be around, it'll be much better.

I knew I wouldn't age well; I was 'sickly' as a kid' but 'knowing' isn't the same as 'experiencing', and I am working, as I always do, to put the 'experiences', especially the bad, to good use, which means turn it into art with a more universal appeal, relevance.

My husband and I moved to a small OH town from San Diego; big adjustment, including financially... way down, and fast. We're not taking it so well... but in time, given enough time, maybe.

    ADDITION in Italics
Ambien for sleep: Kind that some others would LOVE to have repeated but not me! One time, though it was actually called 'a visual distortion'.

Your red coconut soup sounds a bit like my yellow curry one but a lot hotter, I bet!

That would be interesting combo; I've never heard of it. I took a Thai restaurant recipe, really good, played around until I could mimic it at home. Yours sounds filling and delicious.

I miss eating yellow curry: chicken, carrots, potatoes, the spices... I made my own, and it was very good

Then you know what to watch out for. I've been slathering on sunscreen and using umbrellas for geez, going on 30 years. It's an ugly, painful way to go: Skin and lung cancer: My pappaw died of the combo; my maternal mother of lung cancer but she was already being treated for skin kind.

Yeah, that one, and lung cancer, other lung disease, are the biggies in our family tree... I don't smoke; got that going for me

Oh, yeah! Thanks for clearing that up for me. The person who drew it put the wrong caption/title on it. I made her skin darker though since my skin is darker than the comic character's.
