Thanks. One thing I know about conservatives and/or republicans is one thing they understand is money. Putting it in those terms may make it easier for him to grasp the greater complexities of the issue.

Your biggest problem aside from no sense of tact is that you make assumptions instead of asking for clarification.

The point is that there is a balance. If the minimum wage is too high, unemployment goes up. Too low, poverty/use of social assistance programs goes up.

It's like arguing that income taxes should go up, since we'd have tax revenue, and more money for infrastructure and social programs. But that means people would spend less money.. they'd hire fewer people, and employment may go down. So the net change may be that you'd see LESS tax revenue. Again, it's a balancing act.

No citations are required. If you raised the minimum wage to $1000/hour, businesses everywhere would close.

True, by the way I'm not a bogan ... much hahahah jks.

I'm mixed race. Australia is pretty multi cultural, it's funny we have racism the same as anywhere but in a pinch a community will rally if needed regardless of were the residents are from.

Okker is like informal patriotism in America.

We have little parallels to what you described with your husband being Texan. Like NSW vrs Queensland, but its like a competition not just a difference, especially around state of origin (rugby) we make fun of WA & Vic's aerial pingpong (AFL). Sports lol we had one prime minister let the whole country off to watch a race once. & I'll stop, you would pretty much have okker down pat now.

Lol yep or how they mean the phrase or word as well depends on how they say it. If you have seen the word bogan from any of the Aussies in the forums this is what they mean. Blokes lol it's a spoof but they do exist lol

It's the bastardisation of English, take bastard for instance though. Traditional meaning as you know it, out of wedlock. Modern take, a horrible person. Okker take, ahhh ya mad bastard lol term of endearment between mates
