I used to think Odo was an INTJ, but ISTJ sounds more appropriate. I don't see a lot of 'ambition' in Odo.

Sisko to Eddington: "You betrayed your uniform!"

...sounds like an ISTJ too

Perhaps.

I saw Janeway as an ISTJ because she always seems to "go by the book". Then again, Sisko does so too. Especially in his interaction with his son this becomes clear, a very strict father with strong values. ISTJ could be possible.

Dr. Crusher strikes me as being INFJ. Picard--totally INTJ. Troi and Wesley seem INFP. Riker seems ESTJ to me. Worf--ISTJ. Geordie--I'm kind of stumped there. I think he's "J", and probably "SJ". Data--INTP all the way. I don't really know about the other Star Trek shows.

A shot in the dark matter - I'm inclined to see NTs everywhere, with Starfleet being paramilitary - the upper echelons of such an organization are often filled with those types.

Hey you forgot Enterprise(my 3rd favorite behind TNG & DS9)

my guesses:

Star Trek: Enterprise

Archer:

Trip: ESFJ

T'Pol:

Travis Mayweather: ESFP?

Hoshi Sato: INTP?

Malcolm Reed: ISTJ

Dr Phlox: INTP

Commander Shran: EXFJ

Yea I couldn't decide whether T'Pol was an F or T... As a Vulcan you would expect her to be T, since Vulcans are contioned to be Ts from childhood... but I don't know... as Vulcans go she is probably one of the most F Vulcans I can think of (except for maybe Spock's brother)

Picard is a little odd because in season 1, he was DEFINITELY FP. Diplomatic wimp. He got some backbone in subsequent seasons, but I still see a lot of INFP there, although his interest in archeology suggests some 'T'.

He's also really good at reading people.. not exactly INTJ

Oh, and Troi and Riker definitely have the NT/NF death spiral going on

One thing to bear in mind is that Star Trek is a show that uses dialogue to convey a lot of the philosophizing. That might account for a lot of N and possibly T. The plurality of people in the military in this present century are ISTJs. We probably aren't seeing a lot of the experience they go through (seriously, how many Enlisted do you see in the show?) so their responses seem more intuitive than they actually are. Spending weeks trying to figure out how Dominion ships run is far less dramatic and thus a lot of ST behavior is ignored.

Except whenever she had a gut insinct to just throw the book out the window. She kept by the book most of the time as a sort of security blanket. Her 'confidence' was really a shield to how utterly terrified she was about everything.

Occasionally, to prove to herself how intelligent and competant she was, (hint: she is neither,) she would pretend to know when the rules don't work for a situation. "I am smart enough to know the exceptions." Rather than look intelligent, she ended up looking like a hypocrite.

Whenever she makes a decision of her own volition, it is emotional. Despite all of this, she is a master manipulator. So she could twist other peoples sucess and competance to look like her own and make it seem like she had strong principles despite being the most amoral captain in Star Trek show history.

Ever notice how she cannot handle criticism? At all? She does like tranquility among her crew, though, and will force it even when not appropriate. I would argue she is a highly unhealthy version of an ESFJ.

Kirk is not an ENTP. Don't make me cut somebody. The only ideas he ever has revolve around women's boobs. Only 40 percent of a heterosexual male ENTP's ideas revolve around women's boobs.

He's ESTP.

Seconded. I could more easily relate to McCoy. Partially because he's more of a legs guy. ;)

Also we need to list Dax twice, as she has two personalities: Hers and whatever it is that she hosts.

Starfleet is not a military organization.

Starfleet has warships, is legally empowered to fight battles and wars, and operates along military ranks. Whatever the lines about not being a military organization, it is one. The Coast Guard may not be a military organization in peace but can be activated to become one in war-time (CG ships sunk a few U-boats int the Caribbean in WWII).

It is not a military organization; the purpose and the function of Starfleet is exploration. This is dealt with over and over again throughout the franchise. You cannot understand Starfleet by superimposing contemporary institutions upon it. Think in-universe.

While things may change in a few centuries, the common task of survival have evolved certain structures and concepts that are mutually recognizable. We recognize the Roman Legions as comparable to modern armies despite a few different collateral roles. Despite exploration being the nominal primary mission of Starfleet, the collateral roles of defense and war-fighting seem far more prominent.

Picard claims that "Starfleet is not a military organization", even though that's obviously public-relations nonsense. If Starfleet is a non-military organization, then why are their ships so heavily armed that they can dice with the warships of neighbouring superpowers such as the Cardassians, Romulans, and Klingons? Why is it called upon to fight the Federation's wars? Why does it use the rank structure and chain of command of a military organization?

If anything, this insistence on Starfleet's non-military nature speaks of habitual self-delusion and public relations obsessions within the organization. As for Picard and Riker, they demonstrate asinine stupidity when claiming that tactical skills are "minor" for a starship captain. Tactical skills are what keep his ship from turning into a drifting debris field.

Did you read the entire page of the thread I linked above? I've thoroughly debunked the argument there.

Also, ha @ stardestroyer.net. Warsie propaganda.
