How nice to see your Av, Portia - I was afraid you might have done a 'disappearing act' on us - it happens around here sometimes. To your question -

Forget intent (for one moment), and focus just on impact. Nowt's posts don't in fact contribute to the flow of a conversation. Both the style and the substance of them disrupts the progress of discussion. Nowt knows this - and so do his apologists. They don't care about the impact on others or on the conversation itself, so long a little Nowt has center-stage, and they all get to giggle about how clever he is, and they are by association. He's like an obnoxious 5-year-old who insists on being the focus of everything, and you who applaud him are like the equally obnoxious parents who encourage the spoiled little monster.

Beneath you - ought take your nickname away from you. The flow of conversation on this thread has nothing to do with the style or substance of what Nowt does, and everything to do with the fact that he is not present in the conversation.
