Stubble is always nasty. Longer beards have the sharp edges of the beard worn off, also they don't stick straight out at incoming soft skin so they're nicer to be around.

I've never been with a bearded guy.

It helps if you never scrape a knife across your face. Those rare times I get socially pressured into shaving, I use one of those electric hair trimmers or whatever the funk those are called.

Good nasty or bad nasty?

Think "chapped lips" for your whole face nasty. Making out with stubble is painful for a long while afterwards. Icky.

It only takes about 2 days for the cut ends of facial hair to soften.

the guy barely spoke a word of English 9 years ago (which is quite believable, considering the region he's from). I wonder what they put in that "empty vessel" for him to have near-native fluency today.

It's a random blog.

What does "barely spoke English" mean? When I was in Paris, many Parisians damn well knew how to speak English, but were simply loath to speak it.

I don't think that was the case. That thing felt like a cheese grater for days...

Was it from a close shave? That's different -- depending on how fast he grows a beard it can take 7-12 days for a shave to lengthen and angle away from the perpendicular.

Outside Montreal and the areas surrounding the U.S. and Ontario borders, Quebec is a fairly homogeneous society, and few people need to know English to go about their daily lives, even for work. And most who do bother to learn it, so they can watch English TV/movies, communicate on the Internet or whatever, aren't fluent and have a thick accent.

There is a much greater tendency to protect the French language in Quebec than there is in France, and English taught in the classrooms is generally limited: 50 hours per year in elementary school and 100 hours per year in high school. And in many cases, again outside Montreal and the border regions, these English classes are taught by native French speakers because there aren't enough English natives around to teach them.

So if a person from the outer regions of Quebec "barely speaks English", it generally means that they barely speak English. And note that the person we're talking about here became fluent only after he moved to the U.S.

While that's all very interesting, I don't think we have enough information to make a determination regarding his English language status. And goddess knows, I don't care enough about this guy do actually research this in google. Why are you defending this dunderhead again?

Why are you limiting the reason for his success to his "hotness" and assuming that he's an "empty vessel" with "little room for anything else"?

Nice attempt at flipping it around, but I'd be surprised if ONE person in this thread bought that

Um, because to be an model/actor you need to be attractive? And let's not kid ourselves because it's common knowledge that very attractive people get a free pass in much of Western society.

Fixed that for you.

You're generalizing regarding a specific case where a good-looking guy who was not born in the English language became fluent enough to make English ads in the U.S. He would never have gotten the job (nor found any work outside of Quebec) had he spent his life just sitting there and looking pretty.

We can't be sure about his English language status, but his appearance was the driving factor in his success. You don't fully agree, which is quite all right.

I enjoyed it, but didn't find it sexy. Just kind of funny and cute. Really well put together. I particularly like how he's deliberately making his voice deeper and rougher.

1. "Aaaw, kitten!"

Not my type of guy.

12 days of the sandpaper face? I don't know that I could handle that.

Is it really worth it to go through that tunnel?

I have always always always had the policy: "It's his face". HIS face. He decides what he wants to do with it.

It was like Charlie Brown's teacher. Then the kitty wearing the beret said oui and I was like, "You, sir, our a scholar and a gentleman". After that I stopped giving a shit and closed screen. I did, however, fantasize about having deep conversations with the kitty.

"You pooped in the refrigerator? You ate a wheel of cheese? Im not mad, Im actually impressed"
