I'm no MBTI expert, I don't want to become one, as I understand many on the forum are.
So I'm OK with placing my self as a subject. Why to go out, why to live the real thing, if what is in my head seems more real than real. I'm not sure if it is an INTJ trait, but, at least I feel like if I had a PS2000 inside my head. I see other people visiting touristic places and be amazed of architecture, environment or whatever. If I travel to other places all I see is different shapes of bricks. Stuff that from my sake of mind looks a lot like what I have at the corner of my street. I'm 34, I used to envy those that went to bars, I used to go to bars to socialize. I made a big effort trying to fit society. Now after 30 I realize that they might actually envy the PS2000, that is unpurshable. And I feel glad that I have it, I might never be social To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. I go outside so I can have innovative thoughts about the things that are outside.
When I visited the Parthenon, I also mostly saw just broken fragments of rubble. My cousins though explained to me the intellectual story behind the architecture. Even if the rubble looks boring, there is always some kind of interesting backstory to how it got created. |

I have no penchant for the outside world for practical reasons. If my situation is different otherwise, I'd go out to learn something new or just to break the monotony of my daily living, not exactly to socialize with different people.

Where I live, "going outside" basically just means maneuvering around people, cars, lots of generic-looking houses, gas stations and Targets and Wal*Marts, etc. In other words, just a bunch of commercialized shit. So yeah, I only go outside when I need to. If I lived somewhere more rural, ideally in the middle of nowhere, I'd probably actually spend a lot of time outside.

There is no need to go outside if it isn't what you want to do..
I find that people don't really understand this, but they respect it. |

Last night everything for dinner was still frozen but for some ramen. I could have went outside to a burger. Then I remembered that I still needed gas for my car. That $5 burger would feel like it cost me $50 because I would have to buy gas too. So I just stayed home and had ramen.

To feed your Ti by allowing your Ne to explore the world. This is vitally important for the personal growth of an INTP. Or so I heard…

I live to be in the outdoors....especially actively. Add snow, mountains, big trees and bears, even better. Perfect for an independent introvert like me. I can get away from people, and feel free.

The outdoors are great. There is nature, things to climb, animals to kill and eat, potential for tanning, and so on. It's the motherfuckers who get in the way of those things that can be bothersome.

I hope you would at least go out in the yard or balcony to get fresh air and sunlight.
Other than that, I can go weeks or months without leaving my place. Then, I'll go on a few weeks or months of travel and exploring. I don't have any complaints about this lifestyle, although it's probably considered pretty strange by most people. |

I have no issues confining myself to my own home as long as my computer lab is up and running; however, having a child means i cannot simply lock myself at home as I would like to do.
So, for me going outside is simply to allow my little one to have a different type of lifestyle than my boring one. Plus I do enjoy nature, spring and Autumn are my favorite seasons to go out, maybe winter, summer is way too hot for my taste, but I still do once in a while. But honestly if I didn't have any kids, I would certainly stay home after work, all day long even on the weekends. If however I had lots of money, I think I would love to travel to certain places and enjoy the architectural details of buildings, take lots of pictures and have a good time... but that is so far away To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. I was always like that to. The world in my head seems a lot more real than actual reality. I still feel that way but I’ve made it a point to go out and socialize anyway. I don’t care about things like tourist sites and visiting ruins and crap. Who cares it’s just more stuff. But I do like having my mind blown by what is out there and never knew of, which in turn changes the way I think and the world in my head becomes ever more expansive as a result. That’s why I do it. And on rare occasions you connect with a kindred spirit and you get to see a whole new dream world just like yours.

INTJ is mostly stimulated by inner thoughts, but there is no correlation between "going outside" and thoughts.
Going outside by INTJ is common, it can relax us from inner tension. For instance, I like watching buses and other vehicles on pathways (in Hong Kong), it is "going outside" and I enjoy it. |

Imagination is good to find comfort and sometimes going outside reinforces the urge to disconnect even more.
Things are never going to be the way you want anyway because the physical world is influenced by many things that we can't control. This is a circle : disappointed by reality = Spending too much time in an imaginary world = You're even more disappointed when you get back to reality. You can probably find a reason to connect to reality, there are enjoyable things out there. |
