How about you point out those "horrible comments". Let me make something "horribly" clear to you; an attack on your "faith" is NOT an attack on you. Defending a horrible aspect of your faith is a self-exposure of your own character, NOT an attack by someone else; the resulting "ridicule" for the third worldliness of said defense is NOT an attack on you, so much as an attack on the stupid of the position.

That's just fucking stupid.

Yeah, I don't think I ever actually said a word about Samia. I just called Mohammed a pedo.

I could be wrong though.

That's just fucking stupid.

Objectively define fucking stupid, how do you define the perimeters of "stupid"? How is it measured?

For me stupid is defined by people who are unwilling to see any side of an argument but their own and who are too foolish to see that we are all fallible. This is subjectively measured by me and is generally observed through what they say, how needlessly aggressive and personal they make it when their position is threatened and how their minds aren't broad or intelligent enough to minimally encompass a differing viewpoint. {e.g. Tea Party followers, Fundamentalist anything ______insert religion etc.}

I was gonna say something about the religion thing, because there are many people who practice many different religions that view other religious view points as possibilities as well. (I being one of them)

But in all fairness I would say there are a lot more people who do fall into such a category as 'narrow minded' as than those who do not with religion.

one of the interesting things about high standards is when people attempt to hold ones that are not likely to be reached.

interesting purpose that serves, no?

Phew!

I'm glad you made room for those of us that are not bloody mean, because when I read the title of your thread I was going to be... well... bloody mean for including me in a list I should not be in!

Breathe in...

You mean an INTJ vibe?

No, it can't be. Of all places on the internet, this is definitely not the forum where an INTJ vibe will emanate from. That would be an oxymoron, right?

LOL. Am I the only one who feels this?

That's just fucking stupid.

I never said that those were attacks on me. You're just making assumptions. Those comments are offending. But I never said they were attacks. That's my opinion. Just because you don't understand or agree with it doesn't make it stupid. This just shows that you probably think if something doesn't seem smart to you it's not smart at all. What makes you think you can be the judge of that? Anyway, why does it seem so fucking stupid? Explain.

Opinions can be ill-informed, incorrect and just plain wrong. Assuming that anyone can and will just agree or disagree for the sake of forum cohesiveness and general friendliness is, just fucking stupid. We don't piss rainbows and shit jelly beans, nor do we expect you to like those facts.

Now, how about that list of "horrible comments".

Remove the second sentence and the insult magically disappears. Can you see it?

Still doing it. Just go on "We Live In Islamophobic Society" thread. The whole Muslims kill people thing that happened. Considering that I am a Muslim... Yeah I do see that to be a "horrible comment" and an attack.

Very few opinions are completely right or completely wrong. When too many people don't realize that, things can get ugly, as they do here.

Now when you say assuming with reference to a dialogue with whom are you speaking but with the person you are speaking to? Who is assuming that all should get along for the sake of forum cohesiveness? Whose stupidity are you referencing? The stupidity of the thought itself or the stupidity of the person who thought it to begin with?

So, do you see it now?

Repeat yourself about what? Just becuase I don't agree with someone's opinion I am branded a murderer because of the actions of some Muslims. I do consider that as an attack.

First page out of about twenty pages. Guilt trip? I'm not doing anything of the sort.

The first time I said it, it was in direct reference to what was said, "that is fucking stupid". The second time I said it, was because I was asked "what is fucking stupid"; it's called ramifications, if no opinion is right/wrong, correct/incorrect, and we can all just agree/disagree, nothing need be said.

However, it matters not; Samia is taking offense to people disagreeing with his view of his religion. This is no longer about ramifications, it flirts with censorship. Do I feel bad that his Islamic feelings were hurt by the truths presented to him? No!

There is no stupid or smart person or people in discussions or debates. And there is no correct or incorrect

people who cry for civility are often trying to use it as a shield from fully justified criticism. In my opinion, if you're willing to abuse the "rules" of civil discussion, you don't deserve to be protected by it.

This is a common cultural distinction between forums formatted for discussion and debate and forums that focus upon chat instead. OP does not appear to be interested in discussion or debate when offering positions, and seeks a feeling of acceptance telegraphed by broad valuation of the positions instead.

You're barking up the wrong tree with these fluffy politics, breh. One does not simply walk into Mordor. But you could always chill in the Lounge rather than posting about collisions of politics and religion in the d&d subfora. You wouldn't be alone in finding debate about those subjects unpleasant.

Oh sure, there's tons of asshattery on INTJf. To deny it would be inaccurate.

Yep. I prefer the beanies to the pointy party ones with string underneath.

I agree with you that 'assuming' implies a referent, but you lost me here. Why is it insulting if he doesn't care about her gender?

True that is not what is particularly insulting only the acknowledgement that you are not even worthy of being known because of points of disagreement, thus insulting that the thoughts rendered stupid make the person a blank slate. Meh, it's my NF individuality blah blah coming out.

Guess it's not an NT thing. Would it have been okay if he'd left out the "at this point"?

Those who tend to consistently claim that they are right and further explain how they are right, which is based on their beliefs/viewpoints on a particular matter rather than a solid fact, are obviously always indeed correct.

And then there are those who just simply thrive off of argument/debate... I'm just curious about how far it got them.
