Do you have well defined goals?
Are they a waste of time? Life just happens. In setting goals do you have a well defined time line? Are your goals realistic and obtainable? How are you coming along on your goals? |

no goals...wash up on shore, bang against seaweed, get covered in some oil....some fat woman in a bikini steps on you, you pop! jellyfish...life just happened...goals scored; looking for playing contract now....might have Bobby Orr's teeth or something...
seriously, all that other stuff...you gotta decide for yourself...you make plan a, it gets messd up, you go to b, it gets waylaid (hmm..waylaid...), go to c, etcetera ad infinitum...never give up. jellyfish or monomaniac with a mission-everything in between is indecisive-have the courage to be extreme. at least it's entertaining for the rest of us... I usually set a goal for the day and give myself a reasonable time frame. I'm a goal oriented person and it keeps me moving forward and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

Nowadays I plan meticulously, I always aim to what I feel I could achieve.

Set goals. Not too low, not too high. |

Well I am ambitious by nature so I always have some sort of goals on the go all the time. I don't necessarily put a due date on them but they usually go on my to do list.

Goals are a must for me as a single mom!!
I literally set goals at the beginning of the year with set timeframes. Afterwards I develop the plan and adjust them as necessary. Some goals are on target, some were eliminated for the year, and some were impacted and plans had to be redone and re-examined which trigger adjustments to the original targets not to exceed 3 months... but again plans are based on assumptions and they can always change. Just last month I had to re-adjust some of the major goals I had to be completed a quarter after the one set at the beginning. That meant taking a sudden hit once again in order to stabilized the original plan. So I moved out from the apartment, took the 5K hit and adjusted everything so that there is 1K free up for getting rid of debt by no later than June '09 and moved house purchasing to the 2nd quarter of 2010 in order to save up 15% for a downpayment and set 10K emergency fund prior to home buying. For reaching the income braket I am diversifying my skills between IT Security and SharePoint Administration at no expense to me.. FREE training is always on my mind...by doing so and getting the certifications my goal will be on target. I over analyzed things way too much and do write everything down, I set up excel spreadsheets with a breakdown of assumptions and even set worse case scenarios specially after the job hit transition.. I know plan the what IF... On the finance spreadsheet I updated weekly, check mark evrything completed to ensure everything is on target and adjust as necessary . If that means additional sacrifices are to be made, then bit it. Meeting my Goals are a MUST not a choice. I want the best for my kids and I. Goals keep that on track. Probably not the same for many but I have worked since I'm 16 like a donkey and have never enjoyed life..therefore I need to feel in a comfort zone so that I can enjoy more as I get older without having a leech next to me. |

I have very long-term goals that are rather general, and very short-term goals that are quite specific. It's everything in between that I have trouble managing!

Which part made you speechless the strong and stubborn J or the sudden steps I take in order to reach them?
It's nice but sometimes it can be a bit annoying. My brain tends to keep analyzing as the plans are running. For example the financial arena is set so that every time a check enters I pay certain bills and specific amounts... this section has to be exactly as plan not a penny more not a penny less. each payment I have set must be made accordingly and my brain will not rest until they are done. Adjusments to such are to be very minimal at all times... |

I am pretty much a conservative person, so I won't set goals I can't accomplish. That, and I'm actually a laid-back, lazy procrastinator person. In conclusion, I do make goals, but first I shape the idea and after I'm sure it can be obtained, the term changed to 'goal'. Safe, and I'm happy.
Because I hate to fail in my school and it's better not to set high goals to prevent feeling like a failure caused by the inability of my nature to do some hard work. Aww. |

I'm all about goals. Without them I have no drive. No gumption to go forward. I'll wake up and go "why?"
I spoke with my roomate about life and he asked me "where do you see yourself in 10 years?" I answered "the same." He told me to write down what I want out of life, why I want it, and what I have to do to get it. So I did that. It really opened up my eyes about the things that I wanted, and that I wanted a lot of them for the wrong reasons. Anyways I changed what I wanted, and now I strive for those things. Life has improved greatly. I feel more whole and integral as a man. It's more fun To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. These goals have time lines, and some of them are on the back burner until I have gathered enough information to draw up a clear due date or time line. A good way to get leverage over yourself is to write down 10 things you HATE doing, give it to a good friend and say "Hey man, if I don't do this by such and such date, you can pick anything from this list and I'll do it." Or you can call up 5 friends and be like "If I don't do this by this date, I'll pay you 50 bucks" that way you'll know they'll actually call to make sure you did it To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. Having a clear image of your goals helps direct you, and having a time lime helps a lot too. When I went into the gym to begin training, the best advice I got was to write down exactly how much weight I wanted to gain, the exact pounds I wanted my lifts to be and the timeline I wanted it to be in. Doing this helped in so many ways. I wasn't just another guy going through the motions to "stay in shape" - I was there with determination to beat my lifts until I reached the clear-cut picture I painted for myself in the future. When I got there, it felt empowering and just....great. A good thing to do with goals is to do it for yourself. There's two ways of winning: Winning to beat other people, or winning to get what YOU want. You ever see a girl and think 'meh' but everyone else is into her and suddenly you're like "hey...I'm gonna get her to be my gf" - when you get her you've beat everyone else. Be honest with yourself, sometimes your goals aren't going to impress anyone. It doesn't matter, as long as it's what YOU want for yourself. And yes, the goals are attainable. They have to be. And yes I'm making progress To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. |
