The word "logical" as a synonym for "reasonable".

For some reason "anyways" has always bothered me, even though it's acceptable as a colloquialism

"Would you like to", when part of a command.

My mother used to use this one, and would get very upset when I answered "not particularly" and didn't get up to do whatever she was asking.

She seemed to feel that if she phrased something as a question, she was asking me rather than telling me to do it. I maintained that if I wasn't allowed to say no, then it wasn't a request, it was a demand, no matter how it was phrased.

My pet peeve is misused homonyms. You know, things like "I shutter to think of that" or "I need to replace the breaks on my car"

You don't give advise. You advise someone, by giving them advice.

"For all intensive purposes" (intents and purposes).

"I could of". I understand why people write this, it sounds exactly like "could've", but don't they notice this makes no sense?

And any explanation where the key point is described by the word "just". I find it vague and slightly patronizing.

"Just do it." It may be obvious to them, but not for me, please try to communicate instead of assuming I know exactly what they mean.

Using long, complex words where simpler ones are available.

When couples say "my man" or "my woman" to refer to their significant other.

No reason for it other than the people I've know who have used it are people I extremely dislike.

Them:"Ya feel me?"
My thoughtful response= No,you perv,I'd rather kill you..

Them:"So,whutcha been up to?"
Me: Prepare for a list of abstract things you don't understand or things you don't care about.

Ginormous, Wut up dawg?, people I don't know referring to me as "brother", etc..

People irritate me. I have little tolerance for slang, meaningless small talk and idle chit chat.

“same difference”

I am also unhappy about the dilution of two words used to be important “hero” and “friend”.

Ditto on "I don't care" someone in my family says it all the time in place of "OK" or "yes".

What about the innovative words which teens are creating?

"swag"

The teens that created this have died of old age.

"That's just what I believe" or "It's just my opinion" as a way of not explaining any rational reasons as to behave a certain way.

"For all intensive purposes"

It's "for all intents and purposes", a term derived from old English law.

.

Referring to anything shiny as "bling". That might fall under my previously listed ebonics, however, I think it deserves special mention. My 84-year old grandmother used it.

"Hunker down."

Free gift.

"Hashtag" anything.

"No problem!" used instead of "You're welcome!" Most of the time, I hear this from clerks, and I'm always itching to sarcastically retort, "Well, I'm glad to hear your getting paid to serve me is not onerous."

"It's not rocket science."

A new variation to this phrase should be introduced.

Using the letter e or the letter i as a prefix.

---------- Post added 06-07-2012 at 07:42 PM ----------

The phrase "It must be nice."

Another "No offense but . . ." If you say it someone is about to be offended.

when people say "In Africa...."

Where the fuck in Africa? Could anyone be more vague about it? I don't even want to hear anything else that is coming out of that person's mouth after that.... Such broad and unmindful classification of geographical understanding usually induce me to seek out the nearest random objects that I could stuff my mouth with... napkins, books, lamp, plump little arms that is attached to a screaming toddler....

I'm not an INTJ, but I work in hospitality and it become apparent very quickly that People Are Idoiot's, This example happend at my last shift.

Me: *Walks over to the lady that just ordered her coffee from me and I just made for her*, "Hear is your Skinny, De-cafe Capuchino *Big bright hospitality smile*

Idiot in question: *Looks at me like I am a moron* "Arrrh, sorry I ordered a Skinny Capuchino, De-cafe"

Me: *No, she didn't just say that? - give her the benefit of the doubt* "Yes its a Skinny, De-Caffeinated Capuchino *Insert more teeth into hospo smile*

Idiot in question: "Take it bake and make sure its my coffee"

Me: *Uses all available professionalism not to tip said coffee on her over bleached hair* "Sure" *Walk our the back, un load a verbal tirade of foul language to, walk back out the front to the idiot and put the same coffee down in front of her* "This. Is. Your. Coffee." *Full stops work similar to a Jedi mind trick - dont ask me why but it does*

Idiot in question: "Oh, thanks"

People are idiots

Separating each sentence/phrase or filling hesitations with "it's like, you know" or just plain "like".

"The troops" and how much you support them.

Exactly. I do not support The Obamessiah's insane foreign policy and I do not support "our" troops. They are old enough to know better.

"A whole 'nother"
"Irregardless"
"Anyways"
"I could care less"
"We'll touch base"
"It is what it is"
