Do you have a strong emotional connection to a fictional character? By strong emotional connection, I mean to the point where if you think about what the character goes through, tears start to form in your eyes. Do you have this in spite of not having it with any real people in your life?

For example, you didn't cry at that family members funeral, but you cried when the protagonist died at the end of that movie. Why? Because the movie isn't real, so you let your guard down and connected with them, allowing you to feel emotions.

Well I don't know about crying but I've been attracted to cartoon characters growing up, does that count?

I dont necessarily cry about whatever happen in the original plot but what I do like to do is come up with my own twists and scenarios that will probably causd some tears depending on how tragic I make it or if it relates to me in any way. Well....if my favorite character is crying their guts out be it Anime or actual film, I will be struggling holding off my tears because I do put myself in their situation. But they have to be crying & struggling with something....deep otherwise I'll be pokerface.

OH! I got one! I watched an anime called Full Metal Alchemist, and one of the brothers was a piece of armor or something, anyway I found myself getting really attached to the little brother, I liked him a lot.
I don't remember what happened to him, I think he was sucked into a portal or killed or something, anyway I just remember feeling really, REALLY sad and felt like I was about to tear up. I couldn't believe I could get so emotional over something like that.

It's not to the extent you depicted, but I often feel more deeply for the experiences of favorite television and movie characters than for those of most people I know in real life, even friends and family.

Roland Deschain - The Dark Tower Series (book four made me cry).

Rorschach - The Watchmen (mirror of my subconscious, throughout the comic and the book i found myself smiling uncontrollably during his more intense moments)

Guts - Berserk (basically same as Rorschach above but more appealing to my will power than my subconscious)

That is all.

I relate to stoic characters played by un-expressive actors:
Russel Crowe in Gladiator.
Keanu Reaves in Point Break.
Mark Wahlberg in The Fighter.

Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre and Alexander Dumas' Edmond Dantès did stir some emotions in me.

Gladiator, I know right! After all he went through, what happens at the end, as he's staggering, and the whole coliseum is silent, what he did. How can you not get emotional? Perhaps it's an INTJ thing where you're allowed to let yourself feel emotion when you're finally standing on top of the world, which is what you feel like in that moment.

Almost everyone from LOST. I watched that show religiously for 6 years. At first because of the mysteries. I loved going online after an episode and theorizing about what the fuck just happened and what to expect next episode/season. But later I discovered that I care about what happens with those characters. I really cared about what happens with Jack, Locke, Ben and Desmond.

And Mordin Solus from Mass Effect.

He is THE INTJ of video game world. His xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian, he is the very model of a scientist salarian.

The little shit from Funny Games (the thinner one). Also, Quentin Coldwater from the Magicians/The Magician King. Which no one here has read...

I am writing a fiction book, that will probably never get published, but thats beside the point.
My main character is in my mind almost 24/7, its a worry, as I often disappear in their with them. Their struggle is all consuming to me,and I get teary when I kill off one of the other characters.

Katniss Everdeen, from the Hunger Games trilogy (the books, not the movie) and Li Cunxin (Mao's Last Dancer) come to mind.

Movies and books can really affect me like that for some reason.

I don't know about this close, but I do identify with Agent Gibbs on NCIS, especially when he has flashbacks about his daughter.
