Love- the initial giddy rush that is fueled by endorphins. I heard on a program that the "high" generally has a half-life of about 6-7 months before it dies down to something more steadfast and less exciting. It caused me to think about some people who can still state that they’re still in passionate love with their partner long after the estimated expiration date.
I’m wondering if some relationships between certain types prolong this feeling. I notice that types that are too similar to me (NFs primarily) bore me faster than others because that they can be read so easily, but ones that aren’t keep intriguing me with what I’ll probably never fully understand. Any thoughts on this or theories on how to make the high last longer? |

Dopamine
Norepinephrine Serotonin Oxytocin Vasopressin These are all the chemicals that comprise the many stages of love. Vassopressin is the chemical that promotes longevity even after the initial honeymoon phase. I think long range compatibility has less to do with personality types and more with your chemical integration. |

6-7 months?
I've always heard 10-12 weeks. I can get that high with certain women after the first night for 2-3 days. If I sleep with her a couple more times within 10-14 days, it can go for about a month. Any more than that (which is rare), that high lasts the regulatory three months for me. |

Usually with me happens the opposite. I do feel enthusiastic at first and want to be all the time with my partner however I feel that I am in love (my heart ticks quicker, I feel butterflies in my stomach and all that) after 6 months-1 year or may even take me longer. Then I have periods of "high" love and not so "high", one month "high", one month "low" and so on. And I idolize the other person after starting feeling in love, I think I am cautious in the beginning and I see all his flaws.
