NPR just did a radio piece on how the orbital frontal cortex and the gray matter of that are correlated with conformism and rebelliousness. My search turned up nothing. Does anyone have any familiarity with or insight into this?
Anyone?? |

My dissertation included stuff about it. Linked to response control and emotional regulation apparently, I can get you references later. My subject was meditation, an increase in gray matter here correlated with practice. I.e - more practice, higher density of gray matter.
---------- Post added 02-20-2012 at 07:33 PM ---------- I mean volume not density. Didn't think that sounded right. |

The Prefrontal Cortex (PFC) is related to things like self-censoring and executive cognitive reasoning. Soldier with TBI often have microscopic damage to the PFC which results in them being very impulsive with their words and it eventually drives people away.
I can see all that being related. |

I am sort of curious about the potential to identify a "revolutionary" class of individuals by these means.

Ahhh NPR!
In a slightly related topic, the amount of white matter in the front of the brain determines how likely someone is to lie. People with autism also have reduced white matter in the front of their brains, making them more honest. I wonder how INTJs would compare. |
