If you have, how has it affected you?

It made me a little sleepy and helped me sleep at night. I didn't really feel an effect from it. I use valerian roots before bed if I'm having muscle pain.

Have you ever used 5-htp or valerian consistently (not just at night)? Did it take the INTJ edge off?

This was my experience too -- very mild, if any. I've only ever taken it before bed (never during the day), and only a handful of times (5 to 10 maybe).

Haven't taken 5 htp.

Have taken valerian consistantly for the past 2 months say, at night only though. Have noticed that I eventually stopped dreaming, which I don't think is healthy and sleep did not feel 'satisfactory'. Dreams came back as soon as I stopped. I still hang out with the devil every now and then.

What edge are you trying to take off.

That's weird. Valerian is supposed to help you dream more. I guess it depends on your body's chemistry.

The nervousness/anxiety/apprehension. Also, it helps tone down my J.
I wish I could find a meditation technique to help me with this, but everytime I've tried one, it has not worked.

I took a valerian root once when I was anxious and over-thinking. It helped me lighten up for a few hours.

No, but thanks for reminding me, I may try it over break. If I do and this thread is still alive I'll post my findings.

One of the other threads was about taurine supplements. I tried them only for a few days and didn't really see any effect on anxiety levels.

Also, Inositol has been recomended for the same thing. I haven't found any supplements yet, but I heard that oats and raisons have it in them, so guess what I have been having for breakfast :-)

The best thing I have found for my anxiety is lots and lots of exercise. Then afterwards I am too tired to care about anything except sleep.
