So, according to my calendar at work, today is National Ice Cream Day here in the United States.
According to Wikipedia, this was enacted in 1984 by Ronald Regan, July is National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday is National Ice Cream Day. Mr. Regan felt that this day should be celebrated with all appropriate ceremonies and activities.

So in the spirit of this auspicious day: FREE SUNDAES FOR EVERYONE!

Has anyone else noticed any strange or lesser known holidays recently?

I looked up the birthdays of some of my favourite composers and put them into my iCal so I'll remember to "celebrate" them… </nerdy>

I did the same thing except I used a pocket calendar and classic rock musicians.

September 2nd is "National Be-Heading Day." It's not as fun as it sounds. You're just supposed to remember people who were decapitated.
