Inspired partly by this thread:

...where people are claiming to have very good innate people-diagnostic abilities, I've decided to put everyone to the test. I've also heard other people make similar claims, that they "just had a bad feeling about someone" and the like, and I've come to wonder, if it really came down to it, could you spot someone who might potentially do you harm after just a brief meeting?

Here are pictures of 40 individuals:

Can you spot the one who would most likely do you harm?

Here's a completely fictional scenario, it it helps: You're at a high school/college party, and a friend of a friend, whom you haven't met, needs a ride home. Which person do you really not want to give a ride home to?

Please post the # of who you think it might be, or post a few numbers if you like.

On the off chance you actually recognize the person, please don't blurt it out. I'll share the correct answer in a few days. I should also mention that I only know the criminal history of the 1 person. It's possible but unlikely that any others except that 1 person would actually do you harm. I think you can get the point of the exercise: spot the one most likely to do you harm on the list.

None. I don't trust them, I don't give them a ride. + in party I could see how they are acting, speak with them etc. It would help me more than seeing their photos.

If I had to choose one, #17: Creepy serial killer vibe.

#8 Runner up. Looks impressionable. You could probably entice her to do some fucked-up shit. She wouldn't do it on her own/alone, though.

#20, 21: Neither of these chicks are getting in my car. Probably harmless, but hello, skeletons!

#1 would definitely stalk me. (Wait, I think #1 did stalk me.)

#33 looks manipulative. His career options are politics or some really fucked up shit. INFJ?

I see a few potential wife beaters (#18, 35)/future white collar criminals (#7, 15) in there as well.

LOL @38. Looks like an INFP with an identity crisis going on. He'll drink any Kool-aid you hand to him, no questions asked.

LOL. I suppose my responses say more about me than the criminal(s)...

I do have an easy test for everyone if you want to lower the chances of running into a psychopath. Not a perfect thing but should keep you safe from the most dangerous crimes.

Try to remember when you follow a tennis ball whitout moving your head. Or look at a car passing by just moving your eyes. You will slowly move then by fixating on a single point. Most human can not do this whitout an object to follow. Psychopath are usually able to do it whitout anything.

Ask whoever you are taking up to try it and you will know ...

25.

by highschool pictures, it may be harder to tell than a picture of a person "after" they began "harming" people? that is assuming that the person "grew up" into a sociopath after highschool.

i'm curious in noting that i disregarded all female faces as potential candidates when scanning.

I'm terrible at this sort of thing, I believe.

These are the people I might be uncomfortable with in more than a "you're dumb" kind of way (because there appear to be some of those too

):
1, maybe 11, 24, 26, 29, maybe 39. 8 and 15 are kind of creepy too.

And who knows--it may be completely different if I were meeting them in real life.

It's hard to tell from photos, although it may be just as hard for most of us to tell in real life. Anyway, here goes for my guesses (5 men and 1 woman):

6, 10, 22, 23, 33, 35

Wait, what are you trying to describe here?

Trying to explain a method to easily discern sociopathic tendancy in people. It's based on the fact that people with a high level of sociopathic tendancy can perform smooth pursuit eye movement whitout any outside stimuli whitout practice.

For a good definition of smooth pursuit the following link seems quite nice.

LMFAO

I don't think a picture is very accurate in picking up on behaviors, but I will just throw out a number, number 19.

[HIDE="Answer"] The answer is #38. Say hello to Randall Woodfield's high school senior picture. He's better known as the I-5 killer or I-5 bandit. He's suspected of murdering 13 people and currently serving a very lengthy prison sentence.

While I can't confirm for sure that everyone else in those pictures are mild mannered citizens since I don't know their criminal histories, if there was anything at all to home in on, most certainly Randall Woodfield would have triggered it, right? Can't judge a book by it's cover, and in fact, it appears from people's responses that the cleanest books might actually be the ones to suspect, since no one seemed to suspect him but Mog, and then only for the wrong reasons.[/HIDE]

Which research show they can do that WITHOUT practice? Never heard that was scientifically proven, heard actually evidence suggest they DO practice without even realizing that themselves.

There's something about #40 that reminds me of Daniel Craig.

Would never have picked that.

But what about the other thread that had 16 out of 40 of these photos are criminal. I picked 12 and others seemed to be consistantly picking larger numbers as well. I guess that is nearly a 1 in 2 chance of picking someone, whereas this is a 1 in 40. (sorry if my statistics is off)

I had picked 19, like many of you. The only thing I noticed about the villain was the awkward smile. Clearly he really wants to fit in. Presumably he failed.

BSJ - I picked 12/16 as well. I think this is pretty good, and unlikely to occur by chance.

Choosing from a group of two objects (criminals, non-criminals) follows the

Despite his eyes seemingly not being quite large enough, aside from # 10 who I'm not certain about, they all look like criminal scum to me, to the gas chamber with the lot of them. Burn in hell, vermin!

To be entirely honest I have not seen a research proving they do it whitout practice. In any case the end result in the same. If someone can do it, there is a higher change that they have psychopathic tendancy.

Not something to judge the whole person from, but if you need to make a quick decision about a stranger it's a method that at least as some objective base.

I'm usually strapped but I have general dislike of people I don't know that ask me for rides, so not applicable.

10 and 35 are still suspect, I wouldn't have guessed 38 based on a picture.

Anyone could be a psycho/sociopath so appearance isn't really an indicator IMO.

Still my choices would be 10,19,24,33,39,40

Just found the answer, so kind of proves my point. I wouldn't have known.

Can you spot the one who would most likely do you harm?

Define harm.
The content, methods and outcome meas totally different to SF, ST, NF, NT

nr 1 - lots of intrigue, under naive personīs mask. Uses "statistics" to manipulate information
nr 3 - thinks he can do everything, because heīs got the looks. Uses his network.
nr 4 - influences people under his masterful humor skills
nr 6 - will fuck up things under alcohol influence
nr 7 - perfect KGB spy/agent. People do share a lot of stuff to "grey people"
nr 8 - "Oopsy-Daisy"
nr 13 - usually a brick when holds a administratorīs position
nr 18 - goes crazy when works as a group member. Aggression. Full-contact guy.
nr 24 - harmful both as a individual and as a group member. Full-contact guy.
nr 25 - likes to create mad ideas and watch others doing it, usually a influencer.
nr 26 - brick
nr 28 - can be talked over to do stupid things
nr 33 - pacifist. Imagine him as a skinhead
nr 34 - full-contact guy, acts only inside a group
nr 38 - politics...
nr 39 - high risk of being a member of pacifist group; influenced by others; needs motivation do direct his frustration; shitty nerves give up easily and he leaves a mess behind
nr 40 - the brains inside the group. Does not do stuff.
