I'm curious to know how often you all edit your posts. I have a bad habit of writing a post and publishing, then coming back and editing at least once but sometimes as many as 5-6 times. I do the same with blog posts, which totally messes up the RSS feed :/

Anyone else have this problem? I posted a poll to make this scientific.

The text is easier to read once published since it stretches in a bigger box. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I edit quite often just for errors in typing, but just once.

I correct my posts 1-2 times. There are many errors since English is not my native language.

I post and then go back and improve upon it (ie:fix grammar or add smilies or add a line for clarification or ...)

I end up editing at least half my posts, the woes of being a perfectionist.

I edit frequently, sometimes rearranging sentences, changing phrasing to sound better, and even adding whole paragraphs. Sometimes I also edit for spelling and grammatical errors or missing connective words. I usually do all my editing in the first few minutes after posting, and sometimes I end up doing several independent edits close together rather than taking care of all of it in one edit.

EDIT: For reference, I edited this post twice after posting it, including this time.

I use the preview instead. I generally preview my posts several times before I submit them.

I generally perform 4 or 5 (sometimes more, sometimes less) edits; virtually all are done within a minute or two of the original post. About 3/4 are for spelling, and about 1/4 for content (a word or two; sometimes I'll add or delete a sentence). I don't really think it's proper to edit a post once people have started to respond to it.

I edit my posts within the post box. Then if I realise I've said something really stupid after I posted, I edit it, but I read them over so often before posting that that rarely happens.

Same here. I make sure my post is the way I want it before I hit 'submit' but sometimes I might miss a mistake or realize that I said the wrong thing...then I will edit it. But that doesn't happen often and sometimes if I see the little "post edited..." message, I will deleted the post and post it again.

I can't stop editing my post-I think it's a mild case of OCD.

That seems tiresome. 5 to 6 is excessive.

Constantly. And even then it seems like I get a lot of things wrong.

Hardly ever, if I notice a stupid grammar or spelling error as soon as I post I'll change it but I try to check that before hitting the reply button.

Most of the edits I do are in the corrupt a wish thread when others *glares* beat me to the reply button

Otherwise I tend not to over think my posts once they're out there, I figure there's little point. Editing lots times sounds tiring.
