I know this comes naturally (Te) to most of you guys, but recently I've become overly impractical and quixotic in my ways. I've always had a perfectionist streak, but it has become unmanageable of late and now stops me from getting anything done. First it used to just effect my schoolwork but now I find myself procrastinating everything and anything, even stuff that's fun. I am always catching myself dreaming up utopian plans for everything and anything which makes doing stuff harder because anything you do will never measure up to the stuff you've dreamed up in your head. I know healthy INTJ are extremely practical but I reckon an INTJ in a dom tert loop, ni-fi is absolutely useless. It just leads to endless self reflection, and indulgence which is not productive in any shape or form. I really need to find a way out and I'm scared now that my school marks are starting to free fall...

Just got out of one of these myself. You need to make a sudden change in your life and force yourself to stick with it. I started working out again and planned and strict diet. Six weeks in, so far so good. By now it's become natural, and I'm sure when my next quarter starts up, I'll get better grades. You just need to find the root of your problem and promptly cut it off, or bury it, if the first isn't an option.

Do your home work. Focus on something that is effective rather than ideal.
Commit to action, so start driven contemplation and evaluating your resources while keeping in mind that you cannot put it off and expect things to get better. Ni-Fi loops? Mature Te and Se stop that sort of stuff. Discover the root of what is causing a problem and tackle it directly instead of avoiding it. Be effective and take action now. Keep it simple and easy to manage at first - just keep at it and don't let up - results need to be made. |
