I'm pretty sure Assange is an INTP. He's obsessed with truth, very Ti.

key quotes:

ontroversial whistleblower Julian Assange was "a very bright boy with a keen sense of right and wrong" when he was growing up, according to his stepfather. In an exclusive interview with CNN affiliate Seven News, he described his stepson as a "sharp kid who always fought for the underdog."

"He always stood up for the underdog. I remember that, like with his school friends. He was always very angry about people ganging up on other people. He had a really good sense of equality and equity."

Though his mother raised him without any religious influence, she sensed that from a tender age, her son was led by a strong desire to do what he perceived as just.

Smart guy, but these all point to F. As did his OKCupid profile, where he tested ENFP and came out towards the extreme ends on all 4 dichotomies in the percentage scores. (EDIT: see later posts for clarification + exact percentages)

First of all, the ENFP result is ridiculous. Next, those do not necessarily point to F. To me the quotes signal a concern with fairness which is how INTPs mostly perceive justice. That he studied mathematics and physics and was interested in computers at an early age suggests an NT temperament.

These were his percentages on the 70 question long OKCupid MBTI test, which is identical to the

:
64% on I to E, 5% on N to S, 43% on F to T, 79% on J to P

50% is the cutoff between each dichotomy, much like the similarminds.com tests. The T/F score is the only one that is close. By the other dichotomies he is:

- a moderately strong E (which makes sense for a man who traveled the world without maintaining a permanent address, engaged in quite a few affairs and maintained a profile on couchsurfing.com)
- an extreme N
- a weak F
- a strong P.

Ti and it's quest for truth is definitely present, but his end-goal of open governments and the end of secrecy speaks to NF idealism.

Also, a big part of his decision to drop out of university was that many of his classmates ended up working at DARPA.

After attending a conference hosted by the Australian Institute of Physics, he wrote on his blog:

I attended an Australian Institute of Physics conference at ANU with 900 career physicists, the body of which were snivelling fearful conformists of woefully, woefully inferior character. For every Feynman or Lorentz, 100 pen pushing wretches scratching each others eyes out in academic committees

He left Melbourne University with an academic record full of minimum-pass scores.

It's also important to distinguish between one's career/interests and their temperament. Sure, he had an interest in typically NT subject matter. However, even during his programming days he put his skills towards humanitarian concerns. The Rubberhose encryption system he co-wrote was designed to be used by human rights workers in the 3rd world who were under threat from authoritarian governments.

Call the ENFP result ridiculous if you want. However, the bottom line is that when he took the test of his own accord, he still knew himself better than any of us internet randoms who have never met him.

I think they're no different from ordinary people who just happened to make a difference in what they do. Accomplishments aren't exactly tied to particular personality types.

Thankfully, his autobiography just hit the shelves! :D Even if it is ghostwritten it should yield a lot more data for typing him than what I've previously been able to find.

Insert comment about the irony of it being unauthorized here.

You know, I should have realized an INTJ was behind this site when I noticed that so many of the celebrities were philosophers, scientists, and political figures and lacked many of what the majority would classify as "celebrities."

Haha, I hate to burst your bubble, but actually there are two of us, and it's my ENTP coadmin who is responsible for the high-brow twist of the site! My original aim with the site was to type actors and actresses.
