So if you've seen the most recent (and final, thank Allah) installment of the Harry Potter madness, you're probably seen the trailer for The Dark Knight Rises. However, if you have not here it is:

Thoughts about the trailer? Expectations for the movie? Excitement? Skepticism?

Agreed. Seeing Bane walk towards Batman at the end gave me chills.

I'm admittedly a bit fearful, The Dark Knight was damn near perfect for my dollar and part of me wishes they wouldn't be making a sequel. With that said, Christopher Nolan is a friggin' genius and if he still thinks there's a story to be told here then I'm most certainly going to be there to see it.

Regarding the trailer, I notice there was a lot of emphasis on the whole 'Legend' theme that was started in the first film. Is Nolan setting us up for Batman to die? Seems a bit counter to the title which would imply (to me anyway), redemption and/or triumph.

Haha, I trust Nolan, too. I think he did "Inception" as a warm-up for TDKR, and I definitely wasn't disappointed with Inception. It was nearly as good as TDK. I'm definitely very, very excited and can hardly wait a year for it to come out.

I never read the comics, but from what I've read about Bane, I think he's an excellent choice for the villain in the final film. Yeah, part of me thinks he might actually kill Batman, but regardless of what happens, I know that at the end of the trilogy, all will be well in Gotham-- or at least a light at the end of the tunnel situation.

Actually Nolan wrote Inception something like 10 years ago. He knew it was a complicated script and would take a lot to pull off. So He did The Dark Knight first to prepare himself for inception. And I personally feel it was better than TDK. I guess you could say then too that Inception was a warm-up for TDKR but I think at this point he knows what hes doing :-D

Simply put Nolan is a creative genius. If you haven't, watch some of his earlier works like memento. It will blow your mind.

And I truly think this is the end of Nolan and Batman so I wouldn't rule out the possibility of Batman dying. I do recall at first he didn't even want to do the movie until he was finally able to come up with a true story that actually fit as a successor to the first. So as was stated...

In Nolan I Trust Too!!!

It's been speculated that Nolan is loosely following Knightfall, a Batman story-arch where Bane snaps Batman's spine.

And Liam Neeson is coming back in some role in this film (hopefully, Ra's al Ghul). Maybe we'll him use the lazarus pits to resurrect Batman after he has been broken by Bane.

I generally admire Nolan's work. However, part of me wonders how restricted Batman is as a hero in the "Nolan-verse."

I wouldn't actually mind seeing Batman die. I say this as a hardcore Batman fan, but I think it could be a really interesting turn. We've never seen it happen in a Batman film, and Nolan really tries to portray Batman in a realistic way. Naturally being the Batman in the Nolan-verse could be fatal.

We also have to remember two things that I can't quite figure out how they fit into the story:
1) Catwoman
2) Bruce Wayne in, what looks to be in the trailer, a jail cell. We know that Batman is being hunted so does Bruce get caught and revealed? That could be interesting, especially if he gets thrown into Arkham.

Speaking of Arkham, has anybody figured out what they are chanting at the end of the trailer? It sounds like, "We are Arkham!" I'm not sure though.

I don't know about that, but he's likely at least setting himself up to leave the franchise. It would be a perfect time to bring closure to his version of the Batman legend... and someone else has noted the incident between Bane and Batman in the comic book series some years back.

Ughhh... I'm not looking forward to Bane being the antagonist. He's like the Doomsday of Superman, a plot device for disabling the hero so so that an established villain doesn't get the credit and get a level of badass.

Heck, watch "The Following". It is a nice little noir, with creepy industrial-type theme music. If you want to see the perfect sociopath character (actually, arguably a pair of them), you won't be let down.

That goes with the territory.

I understand Nolan's M.O. fairly well (he was born less than two years after me.) He is not going to produce expansive fantasy like a Burton; it's going to be kept as "real" as possible, given the source material.
