What is your situation regarding children? Please only NTs vote. Discussion is open, though.

Edit: if you have children, please vote for the age group in which you started to have them, not how old you are now. Mods feel free to modify the "have children" options to "had children at xx-xx"

I want to have children and a wife at some point, but I have already accepted the fact that I may live out my life with neither, if I can not find a wife to meet my (unfortunately) somewhat high standards.

I'm 28. I've never particularly wanted children and there must be something a bit wrong with me genetically. I have too many traits that are on the autism spectrum and related mental/behavior issues, even if I had healthy children I might not cope well or be a competent parent to be honest.

32, no kids. Have said I never wanted any since the sage age of 14. Nothing has changed. I give marriage a 0.01% probability but it's not my thing and I get bored too easily for a lifetime commitment.

26. Not married (in a relationship of 5 years) and no desire to be.

No kids and don't want any anytime soon (maybe someday?? not sure). It has been only recently where I have started to not dislike babies (but only one in particular...baby of good friend)...perhaps my biological clock just started ticking. I kind of want a family someday when I am more settled in my career but I have a long way to go.

24. Don't have kids, and have no desire in ever having any in my foreseeable future. I am definitely not interested in getting married either...

My expectations are also too high, we tend to be perfectionists. I personally don't want children but if I ever do get married and my future wife wants children then 2-3(3 if she is very persuasive) is the max. I'll also try to contribute rational/intelligent children to the world.

I've never had any girlfriends and I'm 18(going to be 19 in one month) years old so it looks very bleak at this moment.

They shouldn't expect a lot of emotional support out of me...

Additionally:
By the looks of it Rationals don't have a lot of children in general based on this poll. That's bad for the future generation and advancement of the human race.

That was exactly my point. I actually made this poll in response to the "why is S so prevalent" and "why are rationals so rare" threads lately, where everybody seemed to postulate ideas that cover virtually everything...except that we simply don't reproduce like rabbits. It's simple math.

27. Always wavered on the topic, but it's becoming clear that I don't want kids of my own. I love kids and am great with them -really great-, but parenting is another matter entirely. If only in terms of time & money.

Don't forget the fact that NTs don't always breed with NTs.

Well yeah, it's not like you can throw MBTI temperaments into a punnett square, to bust out science. I would say it is more of a behavioral causation, with I/E being mostly physiologically predisposed. A lot of us have IxTx parents, from what I've seen. It's an interesting topic, for sure.

I would agree with that, me and my father aren't at all close to each other and barely show emotions; we tend to live life our own way. My mother is also very Introverted and she is an intuitive, she generalizes a lot of things. Overall my mother is an INFJ, while my father is an INTP. While I myself am an INTJ.

I'm 18 and never want kids, never wanted kids. I just don't get them and they don't get me. But if I get married and my partner is really good with kids, I might adopt if they're willing to do most of the parenting, but even then, if they have baby fever, that might be a total deal-breaker for me. And there's no way I'm going to push something the size of a small melon out of my crotch.

INTx, 37, married to INTP, 39. We both want children, and have for many years, but my wife is still awaiting medical clearance for pregnancy.

P.S.: Don't get Lyme disease. If you do, don't wait seven years to get it properly diagnosed! If you do, it will seriously fuck you up.

37, no children. I have never wanted children. Never liked playing with baby dolls. Really hate people either being patronizing and telling me I will want them some day when I get married (because I would never marry a man who wanted kids... not fair to either of us), or treating me like I am some kind of alien freak because I am woman who doesn't want kids ("that's just unnatural").

It's a shame, really. Considering we are the type of people needed to breed more.
...and yet, I can't see myself with children, either.
