In my opinion :

When it becomes possible (and it is technologically feasible), genetic engineering (see The Hedonistic Imperative by David Pearce,

).

In the mean time :

-People should refrain from having biological children and adopt instead, for both ecological and philanthropic reasons (people should have a right to reproduce, it's just my opinion that it would be better if they did not).

-People should boycott the meat industry and all human mistreatment of non-human animals (vivisection, circuses, the encroachment of their territory through deforestation etc.) should be legally outlawed. Non-human animals should be regarded as legal persons. There are also ecological reasons to eliminate factory farming.

- People should make every effort to seriously reduce their carbon footprint

-Economically developed countries should abolish third world debt, especially considering how much of this debt was accumulated by corrupt, non-democratically elected parties who were supported by the West.

-Euthanasia should be available, with some restrictions (to ensure that the decision is well thought out and not impulsive) but for reasons other than terminal illnesses as well.

-Governments should come up with serious alternatives to prison (ie. institutionalizing convicted criminals in psychiatric hospitals, house arrest, community service, ).

What do you think?

People should worry about changing themselves instead of changing others. Trying to change others is a fools errand.

Good luck with that, some of it looks pretty good in an ideal sort of way, but the world is only as good as the average person and we still have a ways to go.

Non-human animals should be regarded as legal persons.

Will you legally try them when they violate our laws (vandalism, theft, assault, harassment, etc)?

Can I sue a dog for humping my leg in the park?

Let's just engineer supreme bioweapons that can exterminate the human race. That'd solve the problems it's causing, right? Removing the troubling factor from the variable?

Oh, wait.. Right... Save the humans.

Um.

Education. The real kind, not the kind meant by politicians looking for votes.

Ok if we are visioning a better world together ... I think we need to have a one world viewpoint instead of countries verses countries and support the wellbeing of all life forms; as Earth is about life. We could become dedicated to prolife iniatives and make decisions based on what sustains life on the planet Earth. Which does not mean death is not part of that cycle just maybe looking at nature as the most efficient and effective system that manages this well already and aligning man made processes with it.

I agree in principle with points 2,3,4 and 6 - but not the suggestions exampled in 6 - instead assessment and rehabilitation options should be provided, within a context that where assessment of risk is such that at this point in time, some level of containment was necessary, that could be achieved. However the nature of the containment facility to be conducive to rehabilitation and treatment for the difficulties the person has that have led to the criminal behaviour. Guess that is what they are trying to do now however we are not sure about the success rate and what the barriers are to achieving a higher success rate. Some degree of major review of the 'justice' system could ascertain this and consider solutions to these with the objective of what could lead to reduced likelihood of reoffending for individuals once they had received human justice services.

Option 2 would need a plan that would need to steadily decrease the reliance on the meat industry to have a chance at working and achieving that goal; maybe through increasing the tax and cost of meat with the recognition that the cost reflects the cost of life to that animal and loss of it's potential. As part of that plan. And raising the costs to meat industry farmers to decrease the incentive and profit of farming animals purely to raise them to kill them for meat. Animals providing milk could have new legislation that enables them to provide this service to human beings in an environment that supports their wellbeing.

Sustainability for and respect for life and our natural world that enables us all to live on the planet could be a guiding principle when looking at the current practices of human beings and modifying them so that this can be achieved as often as possible in the design and operation of things we rely on.

With number 1; maybe increasing incentives to couples to adopt and foster children in need could occur to increase the options for people who want to parent. Takes a community to raise a child. As an early intervention option, maybe some people can help parents in need by providing respite and support to the family during challenging times for that family and this be a recognised and incentivised option for people who want to support children's development and care given to them? Tax credits or something offered to people who are offering to do this - might cost governments less than picking up the pieces and providing the services and in house facilities for these children once the home situation has got so bad the children have problems and need institutionalised care and input?

Totally agree with number 4. How to rid the world of poverty however I know is difficult however it does not seem impossible given the level of excess in the MEDC countries.

If we have to control the world...

We need to nationalize all natural resources around the world. Halt all taxes and dismantle all central banks. Money is to be issued and printed by a central government to fund projects around the world to better humanity. Wars will not be funded so they will not be fought. Oil money will not go to OPEC countries so terrorists will not be funded.

Efforts will be made to increase everyone's standard of living to the best in the world. Everyone will have a car and as much steak as they want. We will have a huge industry to make lobster and steak available cheaply for all.

When the world infrastructure has been completed we will build Star Fleet and begin exploring and mining and colonizing the vastness of space. We will prepare for the Borg, the Greys and ET. We will be ready.
