INTJs- not known for interaction for the sake of interaction. Fair?
Not the most social, partying, communophilic people on the planet. True?

More than 700 people are on this forum right now. What benefit do you experience from membership and participation? Obvious answers are fine, but I am quite intrigued by what makes it possible for many of us, who would turn down most kinds of social interaction (I think) have sliced up pieces of our valuable time to read other's thoughts and respond to them? Albeit with the requisite mixture of analysis and questionable humor.

Very sincere with this question. I have found connection to groups quite unpleasant in most times of my life. This seems different.

I get to be opinionated with people who actually understand what I'm saying.

For me, it's not so much that I don't like interacting with other people. It's that what's normally going on in my mind is so different from what must be going on in other people's minds. We usually don't relate to each other.

I actually enjoy interacting with other people when there is some kind of ability to relate to each other. I find this to an acceptable degree on this forum. There are a lot of people here who have very interesting, well developed thoughts on a variety of subjects I have only given little, if any, though to. I enjoy learning from them.

Interestingly enough, there is quite a bit of small talk on this forum to which I can't relate. But, hey, we are still all different, even if we share some core preferences.

I get to speak my mind and get to read "intersting" stuff.
It can be therapeutic in some ways. A lot of us face the same problems in life and I feel that I can relate to a lot of the issues people post here.
It's also a great way to procrastinate.
I read a lot of posts but I've noticed that I usually only post when I'm procrastinating, like now.

I agree with Froyo on the therapeutic nature of this forum. It's good to know that there are people who prioritize rational thought as highly as I do. It also allows me to feel connected to people without the exhausting act of meeting new people who won't relate to me anyway.

It's a nice distraction from the real world, which is great for procrastinating. There are people here who generally can understand my perspective. Also, it's social interaction on my terms - whenever I'm tired of interacting, I can simply browse to another site.

This is A LOT more useful than most of my time spent online, I educated myself, learn to know about myself and others and such, basically I'm learning here.. And the stuff that I'm interested in.

As crazy as it may sound, a majority of the forum is actually pretty smart. Even the folks with some of the more extreme opinions.

Its a nice change of pace and i sincerely appreciate every member that contributes to the experience. Most of the time i don't get to work my brain the way i want to while socializing, except for here. If i have something intellectual to talk about, i know i can share it here.

It fulfills my need for socialization. It allows me to interact with the world in little ways, in small doses, on my own terms. Sometimes the world interacts back, and some of the people that I've talked to online have affected my life greatly. So I join forums like INTJf now and then just to see what happens. It's a source of inspiration. I never really fit in on forums, but nevertheless it's become a long-term hobby.

I especially like reading and participating in debates. I don't find many other people who want to debate in my offline life.

And 'listening' to people who are similar to myself.

It fulfills my need for "challenging" thought. So, if I'm not really using my brain much then I end up here or at TED or Physorg.

I don't participate all that much--but I enjoy surfing through regularly because it gives me exposure I don't get elsewhere, to people like me. Often people like me who are smarter, better educated, and--I'll say variably less and more scarred by being the somewhat rare birds INTJs are, as products of family and larger cultures that often neither 'get' us, nor approve--which is always thought-provoking and sometimes enlightening. It also tends to be informative, given the wide range of interests and origins represented.

I think most INTJ don't like dealing with people because few people understand them and they've had bad experiences - not that they'd naturally have chosen to not deal with people if they had had the luck to deal commonly with people who did understand them.

Besides, there's no in-person interaction here, and minimal stress of complex relationships.

Plenty of times I click a thread, read a little, and see exactly what I was planning on writing. I think that's pretty great.

INTJs are rational (which is important), pretty similar to me (which i dont get ANYWHERE else) and just as importantly intjs are the NTs with the most integrity, possibly even have the most integrity out of all mbti. Also, this forum is the only place where i quite often feel intellectually humbled, im able to look upto a lot of people here rather than typically just sneering and wishing i was dead. All important to me, and all very much appreciated.

A rarely-found feeling of being understood, people pondeing similar things that I wonder about, thought-provoking/rational/deep opinions that are actually worth reading and that make some sense...

The like-minded community is probably a human need, a hole when lacked. If the hole is smaller with us, it's still better patched, and a dab here will do you for the day. Separately, there's something vaguely soothing about reading through familiar thought patterns.

A busy life, I don't get to think about things as much, and I feel unstable until I've gotten some good cogitating in. Forum topics ask questions, you pick the one you'd like to think about. Very polite and convenient.

I find it entertaining. I like to hear people's views about a variety of topics. Unless I am doing a lot of work in a particular area at the time and just don't want to get fatigued with it, hearing what other people think can be fun.

I can actually speak normally and not dumb down my manner of speech for the people I normally interact to understand me. It's also nice to see other like-minded people that actually get you. You are not the only one that doesn't like to reveal a lot of yourself or like being alone for long periods of time. You are not considered weird, crazy, or bitchy. Or you are, and you get told that instead of being whispered behind your back

Smug sense of self-satisfaction.

It's nice to be able to converse with others without having to entertain infuriating notions on how people are "feeling" with regards to an issue.

INTJ's disdain trivial socialization, not all socialization. And we tend to take self growth very seriously.
Here we have a chance to debate and explore. Many of us have similar situations, and some of us have figured out answers to problems that others may have been trying to solve. I know I have received good advice here on my troubles on more than one occasion.

I can talk (write) a lot about intellectual or personal things and people actually listen/find them of interest. Thus, I can get help and interesting conversation of topics of interest to me. I don't have to dumb down my speech. Most people here are in the same boat, so there's a sense of camaraderie. And a high percentage of people have similar interests.

I love this forums because I don't feel alone in the world anymore.
I do not have to wear my mask to talk to you guys.
It is just plain relaxing. It is very stressful to not have yourself understood by others when speaking. At least here there is a 50/50 chance someone will understand what I am saying. Though sometimes I know people will be lost on my words and say WTF is he talking about
