How do I test easily and simply the composition of various types of alloys found around the house, without needing to purchase expensive equipment or chemicals?
In particular I wish to determine what type of metal various "tin cans" I have here are made from, so that I can make an informed choice when deciding how to recycle them. |

You might be able to do something related to density, but with alloys it could be difficult.

I was under the impression (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that for the use of 'tin cans' the only metals that were widely used were steel coated tin and aluminium.
If this is the case then find a magnet. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. |
