INTJf,

Does power possessed mean control? Or is it an illusion - will reality nigh inevitably be able to trump the powerful?

For instance, people use relationships or reason or structures or spirituality or something other to attempt to control the world around them, or have a sense of control or security. But, is it a tad pointless if taken too far? When you rely too much on a false security and become blinded to reality?

In the end you find you only have the power others around you give.

For most, power possessed means control. It's a illusion in the sense that such power exists only in the dynamics of minds of those participating.

If one attempts control the world around them for whatever ends by whatever means, then there is room for improvement in growing-up.

'Living with uncertainty is fundamental to your progress and growth. It is the way of the future, scientifically and personally, and you might as well get used to it. A mechanistic reality over which we eventually learn (through science) to exert control represents a limited local reality. Uncertainty is not a problem for science as long as the uncertain results are represented in our physical reality by something )a physical component or manifestation) that is clearly measurable consistent and uniquely related to it's source.'

To the OP question of 'truth winning out' -

I find it hard to tell. As I understand it, evolution or de-evolution of the species are equal probabilities, in the long term. Where we are presently, is an extremely short period of time in the long term time line.

The illusion of control serves as the carrot hanging before the mule; it drives us forward.

Power != finesse.

You cannot police citizens with a nuke.

Does finesse = control over your control of power?

A child may think they are in control of the layout of their room. The parent may think they are in control of the child's room. A natural disaster like an earthquake may come and disagree. But until that point in time, power and control are accepted, which is a sort of power in itself. But I would argue that it is more fragile and limited than we give it credit for.
