Okay INTJf, for background, this issue sort of came up in another thread.

Is there any point to formal behavior in normal day to day interactions?

I think it helps keep distance with people, and is handy if you are too lazy to switch between casual and formal speech, since the former is optional. But being casual helps you open up.
