Dear INTJf,

Which is generally most desirable MBTI type for a partner, according to society at large?

Discuss.

Please note, this is about an educated guess, or guess, about what others as a whole think, rather than your own individual romantic preference.

ESFJ/P? - Dependable/Fun. The average person isn't looking for intellectual stimulation.

Both ENTP and ISFP would just as easily fit the bill for easy-going fun though

My skin crawls more at the idea of ISFP than ESFP. ENTP are cool but Ts in general have questionable empathy.

ENTP is a close second, but extroverted people are rather draining on my comparably short stock of interpersonal fuel.

Oh society at large, not my personal preference? I looked at poll first, before reading OP. Hrm. Well I could be narcissistic and vote ENFP, but I won't. I think I'm capable of attracting people easily enough, and they enjoy me for awhile, but eventually I drive them nuts somehow. At least that has been my experience. I've only managed two long term relationships (actually living together), and each last only three years and they decided I had to go. Well the second one got rid of me passive aggressively, dropping subtle hints like often coming home from work at 3:00 AM smelling like men's cologne with her usually immaculately groomed hair all mussed up, and claiming the customers she was schmoozing (to help get a contract for her consulting firm) ran late at the dine and booze establishment. So I moved out. She admitted later she was having an affair with a married guy at work who had kids. Then she dumped him after he got divorced for her. haha. See, my theory is, she needed to prove she could take him away from his wife for her self esteem, then lost interest after she won the contest.

Oh she was an INTJ btw. I must be a masochist, I've had three of them as serious gfs to date. I know they all aren't like the home wrecker though.

/tangent

I'm gonna guess ESFP and ENTJ as top two picks.

But the question was about "society at large".

It depends on everyone preferences, personalities, so you can't really have an ideal partner personality out there.

Personally I connect more with extroverted/crazy gals, I guess ESFJs would be my perfect match, and the girls i've dated were most of the time ESxx or xNFPs. But my fiancee is humm INFJ I guess.

I think an ENTP would be the best romantic partner for me. I like having a couple F friends around, but an F as a romantic partner would be a disaster for me, being the wavelength is so different when it comes to relationship issues. I like ENXP types, so I'd lean toward a T in a relationship.

That makes it easier. I looked at your list and thought that personally, I wouldn't want any of them.

For society, I'd say ISFJ.

I voted ENFPs. Regardless of whether or not I agree with it, I admire their ability to draw from an infinite well of optimism, regardless of the reality they are currently in.

Exxx
somebody who is fun to be around, i.e. is not boring, but is not pushing them around like a toy
who will show affection, empathy, etc.
is not all about order -> probably P
but is not bad with money either
is loyal, adaptable, etc.
...
and such personality and person doesn't exist :D
Maybe it would be a one who has all those E/I, S/N, F/T, P/J high (developed), and is somewhere in the middle

Only thing I can say is that most of the people are IMHO E and they want a E. And there is no type that would have for example 25% of population or is it?

The poll seems to be following the types that INTJs generally like, rather than those that society does. Besides, INTJs have a tendency to be out of tune with the rest of society - we're not going to have a great idea of what types other people are interested in.

In general social terms, I think ESFPs are the most attractive, whereas ISFJs are probably the most stable in a relationship. I voted for ESFPs, but if you're asking about the long term, as opposed to the initial attraction, then I'd say ISFJs.

ENFPs are amazing and very affectionate and loyal as long as you know how to handle them.

Give them a reasonable amount of freedom and they'll stick with you forever. As an INTJ, I used to be upset when my ENFP wanted to run off to another country for a while. Now I understand it and embrace it. It gives me true reflection time.

The trick is getting them to understand that you don't want to run off on a whim and you need solid planning beforehand. Often they will take the initiative and plan way in advance just so you'll be willing to tag along.

Why there's 0 vote for Istp's ? Where is the love ?

There should be some affirmative action shit for this thing to be fair.

The two people I've had relationships with have been INTPs, so I went with them.

Girls seem to dig mature and driven ISTP guys.

And I'd rather go to ISTP girls to hang out at a moment's notice.

I don't think its too bad for ISTPs.

Well NFs are known to give up a huuge importance to the relationship. Giving that NFJ could be much more stubborn which can cause conflict and some lack of compromise. ENFPs can be really affectionate and easy-going, but still I was unable to find those tremendously loyal ENFPs for which some of you talk and they could be easily bored in a longterm relationship. So I vote for the INFPs.

Ugh ENFPs. They sure are fun and free wheeling. But damn they really annoy me with their random-ness . Not sure how some INTJs can see them interesting.

I'd go for ESFJs then ENTPs.

From my experience, smart women, girls with daddy issues and E*F* chicks are attracted to I*T* guys.
But most women don't want a heartless, cold, arrogant, independant, hobbies-focused bastard in their lives. Fortunately for us, we don't care much about relationships.

I don't have a damn clue what society wants, but I would love to meet a nice INTJ or INTP.
