for the INTJ Forum members. The address for the group is

Membership is open to all members of the INTJ Forum. Just put in a request and I will approve you. The service is free and might be of interest to those of you who want to discover new music and see what other members are listening to.

Some descriptions about the service from the website:

Last.fm is a service that keeps track of what music you listen to, and then produces a large number of features personalized to you.

You can use Last.fm to listen to music, find out about artists you may like, other people with similar music taste, gigs in your local area, charts and quilts for your personal site, as well as much more.

Scrobbling a song means that when you listen to it, the name of the song is sent to Last.fm and added to your music profile.

Once you've signed up and downloaded Last.fm, you can scrobble songs you listen to on your computer or iPod automatically. Start scrobbling yourself, and see what artists you really listen to the most. Songs you listen to will also appear on your Last.fm profile page for others to see.

Millions of songs are scrobbled every day. This data helps Last.fm to organize and recommend music to people; we use it to create personalized radio stations, and a lot more besides.

Groups are a way for users who have a common interest to get together. Music statistics are generated for groups just like individual users, so you can see what musical taste certain types of people have.

good job, guys!
People on the earlier thread had some really wonderful music to recommend. Come, peoples, give this a try. It is kind of a fun toy.
You can also create your own personal channel and share it at last.fm's website (by giving people the link) or by embedding the player on your own webpage.

I presume we wont be hearing an announcer/DJ speaking? A bit of a shame in some ways. Ok really dumb question, I know, but all the same...We need a witty ENTJ to say stuff.

Nah, it's only music. The same music won't be playing for everyone at any given moment either, as you can skip and ban songs you don't like. After a while, the station will be customized to your tastes, provided that you use the love/ban buttons. It is entirely controlled by the last.fm service; Jezebel (or anyone else) cannot insert content into the streams.

What will happen if I do not interact with it ever?

So far it has been an enjoyable and crazy mix. I dont want it to get boring.

Simple, the station just won't change to your tastes. I don't think skipping songs affects the station though.

Last.fm has some limitations--in terms of your ability to hear the esoteric music you like.
The individual player is nice for the "sounds like" function--that lets you find new stuff similar to artists you already enjoy.

Jez, can you maybe take a look at some of the other shared music sites, like radio.blog.club? (its out of france.) I know its been upgrading lately, but used to be much more user-customizable. Like, completely customizable--you build your own play list from creative commons-licensed music. And the player can be embedded in igoogle, maybe other sites. I don't know if there is a "group" option.

I'm off to a conference this weekend that has at least one break-out session on contemporary music-sharing resources. If I learn about anything new and useful, I'll post next week.
Happy weekend, peoples!
