This is something that is quite irritating as there is inconsistency where consistency is expected.

Between most posts the space is as follows:

But now and again the following pops up:

EDIT: I just came across a superior example:
Click the image to open in full size.

Why is this? And is there no way to ensure spacing consistency between posts?

If a post has been deleted, there will be a bigger space left after it.

If a whole string of posts are deleted, you can see a very broad space where they were.

Thank you.

But it seems I should not have asked. Now every time I see an abnormal space I am just going to wonder whose post got deleted and what the post contained to merit deletion.

Hmm, I thought stasis fixed that. Or at least was looking into it. It was raised a while ago now. But, it's really just a minor inconsistancy, I can hardly imagine it being overly irritating.

Probably mine, due to breaking the rules about hurting feelings or some such crap.

Sometimes people make topics about them, and generally the space there is filled for the person who's post was deleted. It said who deleted it and why.

I like the extra space. If I'm thinking to myself, "Wait, didn't there used to be a post that said...," the extra space offers comforting evidence that I wasn't hallucinating.

I actually prefer it to be there so that we can know where a post has been deleted.

Yeah, same. It's a little reminder that the mods are still watching and will send your post straight to hell if you step over the line
