I've been listening to Depeche Mode music for some time now and their methaforic lyrics keep telling me of double messaging. Some times they appear to be talking about same gender love relationships but other times they are complaining to God for life in general. Any one knows anything about this?

Any other contemporary band?

The great thing about music, like any art form, is that a piece is open to much interpretation.

Technically, I can that Lil' Wayne, is showing me the path to enlightenment in a corrupt system. (well... 5 years ago it was dope, lol.)

Enjoy your music

is a hard rock/alternative metal band that has ambiguous Christian lyrics.

As for Depeche Mode, I think that some of their songs have spiritual references, but they don't go much deeper than that.

Of course all music has many meanings. I am a musician and I change my lyrics all the time. Just because I write a chorus doesn't mean that is what I am actually saying all of the time, or sometimes, none of the time. The best music means something different and personal to every person who listens. For example, I have a song called Banished By Choice. People deep into church will interpret the chorus as blasphemous and an attack on their personal God. I wrote the song to tick off every single person who has a God, no matter who that God is, but, actually, the song has nothing to do with that at all. I would never tell anyone what it actually means but my God is fine with it.
