This is not a new world. It is simply an extension of what began in the old one.

No, I'm not talking about the military-grade bomb; I'm talking about a contractor that works for AT&T in my local area. They seem legit, but I have my doubts.

You see, I just attended a presentation/interview with a C4 spokesperson, along with around ten other candidates. Apparently, AT&T commissioned C4 to market directly to its own customers of the availability of a "free" upgrade from cable to fiber-optic; this makes sense, in light of the superior bandwidth and savings in maintenance that the technology is purported to have. Thus, the job (corningly called a "career" by the said speaker; red flag!) is entirely commission based (nothing wrong with that btw) where a minimum of $70.00 is paid for every existing customer that agrees to the service. Not a bad deal...so it would seem.

Here's where the real concerns occur. While the job itself seems quite good, and very flexible when it comes to my workload (I asked, and was told they expect a minimum of 1-3 "sales" a week; red flag!) after doing some research online, it seems as if the company has a track record of actively deceiving job applicants into a phony pay system. Considering that I was immediately offered a "position" (speaker never quite explained why just 4 positions were available for this contractural work) directly after the presentation...my spider-senses are tingling. I never land a legit job this easily after all.

Then again, almost every company has complaints of its own to deal with, so I guess I'll find out soon enough.

So, are my suspicions warranted? I would like to hear what all of you think about this ASAP; tomorrow is my "training day" and I don't want to have my time wasted on yet another elaborate job scam attempt. Gas is black gold these days.
