Gameplay

Character and landscape
It's a journey in an online world, exploring vast sand landscapes and a "mysterious civilization". People will be able to choose to play the game alone or with others, depending on this choice their experience will be different. Journey will be focused on making the player tiny and weak again, removing the powers acquired in their modern-day lives.

Visual style

As described in the September issue of PlayStation The Official Magazine: "Just like Flower showcased some nifty tech in the motion of the game's grass and petals, Journey offers up an achingly beautiful take on sand. Our avatar will feel what it's like to shuffle through sand, Chen (creative director for thatgamecompany) tells us, feet sinking in as we run, leaving trails in our wake that will slowly fill in behind us."

This seems like a very unique and interesting game concept. In short, you are a loner in a very, very large game world riddled with ruins of an ancient civilization. The game hasn't got a narrative, you are not given any objectives, and a multiplayer component allows you to meet only one person in your world at a time. You can only communicate with others using limited in-game interactions, such as singing sounds and jumping. No text anywhere, and no voice chat support.

The aim of these circumstances is to provide an experience where you (and if you ever find anyone else) are just a speck in a massive, mysterious world you know nothing of. The limited communication will create an opportunity for a strange bond between you and your companion, where you journey together, relying on each other, yet knowing little of who's on the other side.

Looks extremely interesting. Dont have a PS3 though... sometimes feel like that console always gets the more mature and interesting games.

Cool. It looks like Fallout 3 without the NPCs and combat.
