I've always said it slows me down. When people see me sober they know I function at a high rate. At least I assume so, because people tell me I'm intelligent. It seems like a good way to explain it.

Do need to stop smoking so much though. Going on 7-8 years without taking much of a break. I'm just glad I didn't start until after high school.

I love the green stuff.

It seems to work as a natural antidepressant for me. It improves my mood and makes me much more relaxed. It doesn't make me social, just less irritable and more empathetic and easygoing. I love the "weird thoughts" and ability to make deeper connections, but with heavy use that effect becomes diminished. I'm one of those functional stoners, I use it almost every day (I bake, I don't smoke). I regret not trying it much earlier.

I've been smoking for 7+ years now and I am 24 years old. Just recently became interested in MBTI and how it can help develop personal growth.

When I smoke weed I either become lost in my mind day-dreaming or the opposite, I become engrossed with the world around me. When I daydream it's as though I project what my inner ideals are, although when I am high I feel less of a need to match my inner ideals to the outer world. I am more inclined to accept things for the way they are. Weed probably mitigates my stress with reconciling my ideals with the real world. I also notice I am able to be more open with my Fi and that I am more willing to be mindful of others feelings, particularly my significant other, ISFJ.

When I am not high I can become obsessed with my inner ideals vs. the outer world. I try to analyze why this gap exists and can become fixated on findings answers, or at least explanations. I find it tough to go long periods without smoking weed since I feel like I'm wasting my life, trying to learn more today than I knew tomorrow but also unable to apply most of what I learn.

I would say weed plays an important role in maintaining balance in my life at the moment, and that it affect my Fi and Se moreso than my Ni or Te. This is simply my perspective though.

There are different kinds of pot that have different effects. Sativa and Indica strains work differently. I'm unsure which is which. One is more mental the other is more physical.

To answer your year and four month old question that was never answered, sativa has a higher ratio of THC to CBD (Cannabidiol), and indica has a higher ratio of CBD to THC. CBD actually counters some of the effects of THC. So you get more of a cerebral, soaring high with sativa, and more of a heavier, hashy high with indica.

sativa = stimulation, good for migraines, depression

indica = relaxation, good for anxiety, muscle spasms

I don't use it for any special, specific reason. It is recreation for me.

Mostly good things - except occasionally I will have a very bad time because I start thinking negative things about myself / life. Nothing self-esteem related but that I feel like I'm underachieving/wasting my life/time and should stop smoking and should make some changes.

My frequency of consumption is pretty variable and often is more feast or famine.

I have had girlfriends comment that if I go a long period without smoking (i.e. 3 or more weeks) I progressively become more irritable / crazy / over-analytical etc. So whether or not I am conscious off it the experience may have a lasting psychological/behavioral effect for a period of days/weeks post consumption.

In the few times I've smoked, it hasn't had any significant impact on my personality. I notice that I exaggerate humor responses somewhat, and I become disoriented, but other than that there's not much difference.

I probably use it once a month or two just to unwind. But I think I probably over did it one time (or that shit was laced with something else) and had a pretty bad trip as a result.

There is an inextricable time delay in movement and reaction time, a glitch persists in the information relaying from your brain to body, time was skipping ahead without your knowledge or control, it is like mini-blackouts, your coordination is almost complete warped, time freezes then skips randomly, I was totally freaked out.

I felt my heart was going to explode. The worst part is that because your senses are so messed up, you no longer even know you are breathing or not, it felt like you could just stop breathing and pass out.

My friend had to call an ambulance because I was so fucked up. Hahaha the paramedics were pretty cool, we had some good laughs while I was so fucking out of it, my random involuntary body spasm probably provided some entertainment too. My heart rate was consistently between 110-120, but it felt a lot worse. One of the paramedics told me that my central nervous system took a massive hit and is in shock. (I was like No Shit.) Hahaha At the end, the paramedics decided to drive us in, just because both of us were so high, and no one was there to look after us. We end up waiting it out in the emergency waiting room area, the nurse on duty was super nice too, she had a good laugh at us and brought us some crackers and pops.

Hello fellow INTJs. I've concluded, thoroughly, I am much less anxious, irritable, over-analyzing, and even more sociable after I smoke weed. I always say it "dumbs me down" enough to tolerate everyone but I guess that's just my inner intj talking. Any takers?

Weed made me feel great up to about age 19. After that it just made me super paranoid/aware. I really feel like everyone knows what I'm thinking and focusing on me when I'm high. I wish it did make me feel good, then I could trade off booze for it. I have to say though, that it does increase my creativity. A few times I smoked alone just to think about stuff and solve life problems.

Sometimes I end up in that state too, I call it the "sticky world". I don't mind it mentally but it's physically uncomfortable, the heart rate goes so high that I can't get a reading on blood pressure monitors. I've been curious as to whether or not this is actually dangerous (especially if used with other stimulants) but it hasn't killed me yet...

I can kind of relate to the "dumb down"... as INTJ you are always aware of your condition,
no matter how high/drunk/whatever you are - at least that's my experience.
So it's not that inner INTJ talking, it just allows you to realize what is going on, therefore it is real and no voice in your head.

The glitch effects are mind boggling, if there is enough delay in processing the information, you literally could have a conversation with yourself. deja vu happens in everything you do, you are thinking about doing something, then you realize the action has already been executed without your full acknowledgment. After a while, you can tell your motor responses are barely active, your mind is fully aware that your body is fading into a semi-comatose state.

I learned it is always wise to have someone there with you, who is experienced and is not participating in the activity. Who can observe and understand your particular reactions, at times reassuring you that things is how is supposed to be. Last thing you want is be by yourself and have a mental breakdown and panic attack on top of it all.

I think you should be extremely careful with mixing of other stimulants, your body can only take so much, only got one heart, try be gentle with it.

But yeah, Marijuana can be very powerful,(If you are smoking the real deal) respect the proper dosages, especially for someone who is relatively inexperienced with it.

Indica gets you stoned (sitting still mesmurized but everything and unable to move).
Sativa get you high (everything is mesmurizing but you want to interact with it, might hear/see things that aren't "real" or at least perceive things slower).

I'll take what I can get, but I prefer Sativas. In college I was lucky enough to have a steady supply of Sour Diesel. My friends and I would sit around in my room doing our best impersonations of important people common to our lives, laughing out asses off at it. Once we went on a short hike into the woods, smoked, and it was like Fangorn Forest out there.

I like the herb myself, but I think some people can't handle it and shouldn't use it excessively. I'm all about moderation with my recreation. It causes me to perceive things from new angles, giving me greater insight into problems or into life itself. It puts me in a good mood. It makes music sound thicker and TV shows are actually entertaining when high. I also did better academically under the influence than the previous year when I had none. Maybe it's a coincidence, maybe not.

For me, it's a horrible experience. Throughout my college life I "self medicated" with pretty much everything you can imagine. I mean everything. THC is probably one of the worst things I've experienced (many, many times trying to achieve what other people described as a good time). The paranoia coupled with loss of rationality is a miserable combination for me. I found much more joy in opiates. I was always quite social and very happy with even a small dose of some kind of opiate or opioid.

It's weird for me. I get really paranoid for the first few minutes and then I just become relaxed. (Depending on the context of where I'm high. It takes me longer to cool down in overpopulated areas like the mall.) I tend to feel anxious if I don't have a pen and paper with me. I think it's a compulsive thing for me to draw some nonsense.

---------- Post added 05-24-2012 at 03:23 AM ----------

I can definitely relate to the dumbing down though.

haha 'funny' stories, but it was just a bad trip. you found yourself no longer in the driver seat, that's all. when it happens just let 'her' drive for a while and see where she takes you

it is a trip after all, it will pass.

- vaporize, vaporize, vaporize - it will remove a lot of the edge (paranoia)
- find a strain (if you can, street shit sucks) that works for you (read about sativa, indica and hybirds,# ) their are about 60 cannabinoids in canna not just thc/cbd
- cannabis is like peanuts - deadly for few, good for the rest. some people are just 'allergic'

Weed amps me up. I definitely avoid it if I'm stressed.

It does help me focus, oddly enough.

My muscles get tense and a little twitchy, then I get super tired the rest of the day regardless of strain. Last time I smoked I had a high sativa strain, and the day after I became much more depressed than usual. Not really sure why.

When I was a high school loner I smoked before going to bed to reorganize my head. It got rid of irrational paranoia and made me more empathetic and overall more realistic in my social dealings.

Now I smoke it to dumb down a bit as OP said, though it does help thoughts flow if I let it. If I'm with the deep thinking sorts, it helps with that; if I'm with the regular ESxx types, it helps with that.

I've kind of out grown it for the most part though, but I have it to thank for lack of social anxiety.

I flip out when I smoke weed.

I become aware of everything I say to people. Not exactly self-conscious, but I feel like I am no longer in control of what I am saying. On top of that, I will analyze every word that comes out of my mouth and try to figure out why I said what I said.

Along with that, I begin mentally analyzing everything else. I will just stare at things and ponder their nature.

Also it brings out the dreamer in me to new heights, ridiculous heights. I basically sleepwalk, glancing around while objects and people make me think of other things, which make me think of other things, which make me think of other things.

So basically I get overloaded and flip out.

Only tried it once many, many years ago. All I can remember is laughing hysterically at that damn, ugly dog. I laughed and laughed and laughed, then passed out.

Afterward, I was determined not to try it again. I did not like the loss of control. I've since reconsidered my position and might be inclined to try it again, if the circumstances were right.
