It seems that many INTJers dont like to allow themselves to show feeling, as in they find it somewhat unnecessary. What happens when you throw alcohol in the mix?

I still try to ignore them, but keeping them under control is much more difficult than when sober. Usually doesn't end well.

My observation has been that an INTJ will often still think they are being relatively cool and rational, when drunk.

I don't have any more or less of them. I'm just more likely to express them.
That sounds like a bad idea to me, as I prefer to keep things that ought not to be expressed contained within my head where they can only cause minimal harm. As such, I don't drink much and I've never been drunk in my life. |

I think your natural defenses are lowered when you drink which makes you think less about being shot down therefore you are more approachable and less likely to bristle or be as aloof as usual.
Edit: When I drink I tend to be more likely to joke or tease than normal. I'm also more blunt than normal... which isn't always a good thing for other people. |

My defenses actually tend to tighten when inebriated. I've never been comfortable with the feeling that comes with it, and as a result tend to shut-down almost totally, when it comes to communicating.

I think many of us here are pretty in tune with our feelings.

I still hold back feelings when I am inebriated. I am, however, much more likely to express my opinions on important or controversial topics when I'm drinking. It is often hard to distinguish between feelings and opinions, and some might say there is no difference, because you hold an opinion because of the feelings you have about a particular thing. But, as a rule, I take pride in the fact that my opinions, or at least the ones I express, are decided on due to logic and rationality rather than blindly coming to a conclusion because I feel a certain way.

I am a regular-drinker. My feeling part shoots up after drinking, and helps me in seeing the things with having "feeling glasses" on my eyes. Actually I am not sure whether its mine feeling part or sensing part but after drinking I can appreciate and enjoy music, movie or watever topic thats going in my head. I start enjoying the things rather than trying to generalising the stuff or preparing a scheme or coming up with a conclusion.
Yeah, it is troublesome too specially if you are beginner as you don't control yourself from speaking about watever is there in your head. Overall, after alcohol I feel different. |

i agree with i r teh noobz and rara avis. if i'm in a lonely, introspective, whiney mood, alcohol intensifies my feelings and reactions to things. sober i usually do a pretty good job of keeping what i'm really feeling under wraps, though i've been trying lately to talk it out to people because i'm starting to realize no one EVER understands what i'm thinking and feeling, so i need to tell them. sometimes it can devolve into, "i feel as though you're a sexist pig," though. then there's no filter between what i'm thinking/feeling and saying to others... heh.
