I'm fascinated. And a little grossed out. But fascinated. There is so much about this world that we are completely and totally unaware of on a daily basis. I mean, I don't know about you, but I don't exactly spend much mental power on contemplating the life cycle of the squid.

Today, however, I will take a moment to do so.

I'm impressed.

That video doesn't include any of the dissection!

Oh well. It's still pretty cool. (Large squid have fascinated me ever since 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.)

Thanks for the link. Just think that the legend of the Kraken used to be a myth 100's of years ago now its is proved to exist. It could be interesting to see what else can be proved to be true.

The video on the discovery channel link showed them cutting it open and what a large knife they used...

All I'll say is I'd rather read about a colossal squid dissection than see it. Color me squeamish, but cephalopods freak me out, along with arthropods.

'National Radio' here in NZ (which Im addicted to) covered this extensively in several audio interviews. Enjoy!
