The question is simple: Are you good with your hands? Normally we (INTJs) are seen as good with our minds, not with our hands. I want to get some data from everyone here.. what can you do with your hands? Do you consider yourself good with them? How do you think it relates to the sensing functions you have?

As for myself, I can spin stuff like knives and staves and even wield them a bit, but otherwise I'm totally hopeless with my hands. I have problems scooping stuff out of a bowl if I get distracted.

I'm very dexterous with my hands. It may come from having played so many video games for so long, and constantly challenging my hand-eye coordination.

Very dextrous. Many handicrafts are spun from these fingers.

You may want to consider a poll, TR.

I am an odd mix of clever and uncoordinated. I cannot, for instance, seem to carry a bowl of any sort of food (heaven help me if it's a liquid) without staring at it so I don't spill it. If I look away, my hands go back to neutral positioning, and I spill it. Stupid, I know. But, I can make all kinds of things and do all sorts of crafts, I do martial arts (and I'm good), and rock climb (probably average when I do climb, it's been a while).

I have poor balance which I attribute to many childhood ear infections, but generally fast reflexes. I can't walk across a log over water without falling in, but I can catch a ball coming at my face unexpectedly when it's an inch away.

I'm quite skilled with my hands, and still have decent balance/general dexterity, but I attribute that to years of drawing/painting/guitar, and dance lessons when I was younger.

Vorseicht bringt Tekenik, after all...

After drawing and playing many sports for years, as well as typing away through my young adolescent years my hands have become quite dexterous.

It would be easier to ask me what I can't do with my hands.

I've always had excellent manual dexterity. I do needlework, play instruments, do gardening tasks that require some dexterity, paint tiny D&D figures, do fine craft work, oh, lots of things.

Oh yeah, and I type 120wpm. That allows me to type too damn much on here.

(Yes, a poll would be a good idea.)

I'm good with my hands - good with tools in general and making things, good at fixing all sorts of stuff, I can juggle (while also riding a unicycle), can tie specific knots in rope behind my back (learned that while working as an tree climber) and can knock out a few tunes on a guitar.

I can handle a knife or a stick or a staff pretty well. I can also take on tasks like building a fence, rough carpentry work, outdoor or indoor wall painting, and similar things. I don't do smaller, "crafty" things very well, though. I just don't like to sit and fiddle around with something.

I've rebuilt engines, transmissions, performed intricate and delicate work with small scale models, work on computers daily and delicate surface mount soldering work is a specialty. I can't, however, pick up a screwdriver 4 times without dropping it at least once.

I nearly took out my lower back last night after losing my balance - trying to evade a steak knife I dropped.

Bad hand-eye coordination here, stuff like cutting in a straight line is above me at least where I am not heavily focused and paying careful attention.

I'm generally quite good with my hands, and I have built stuff all my life. My flaw is that whatever tool I need, I have misplaced it seconds earlier, and it is often nowhere to be found. It is ridiculous, but over the years I have found that I need at least two of every tool - so that I can finish the job.

Years of video games, competitive sports, and working on little projects around the house have taught me a lot of useful skills. I am a very coordinated person, even when slipping down stairs, i'll remain on my feet while slipping, and regain composure.
Large understanding of my centre of balance.

I'm pretty skilled. I can twirl a pen between my fingers, and I'm a pretty decent artist if rather abstract in style. I also sew dolls, costumes, clothing, etc. but not frequently. I think this comes from the fact that I play a woodwind instrument and often have fast, tricky sixteenth-note runs in my parts that require quick fingers.

As for being kinesthetically dexterous... well, I was in theater for four years, and I did a LOT of dancing and focused movement on stage. That alone has given me a pretty good sense of balance and grace; I rarely if ever fall or stumble and I'm also pretty decent on the dance floor. XD I've got good endurance, too, due to walking around campus so much, so I think I'm pretty good in the kinesthetic department.

I like doing things with my hands. I'm decent at drawing painting and craft work like making postcards and other cardstock decorations. I think I have decent balance, even though my back muscles are in horrible shape at the moment and that effects on things. I also have quick reflexes (catching the incoming ball coming out of blue, like Solaris).

Yes, I guess? I have "piano hands/artist fingers." Though, I only use them for art (never learned how to play the piano). I can manipulate the brushes and pencils well, as well as, other art oriented things ... um, not sure if this is good "data." Have a questionnaire or measuring scale?

I have a right - left problem, so simple tasks like screwing - unscrewing jar lids, turning faucets, turning keys in locks, or using a screw driver are a nightmare. I never could learn to type, so I have had to hunt and peck a keyboard to produce several books. My handwriting is atrocious - I'm an artist, but can't draw or paint: have had to improvise my own techniques -

I type 80 wpm, draw, knit, crochet, and play video games. I'd say I'm very dexterous.

I've always been confused about right and left when it comes to anything that turns. I've always had to consider it as clockwise or counterclockwise to make any sense out of it.

How so? I visualize the "top" edge of the screw and that's what's moving right or left.

Also: Righty-tighty, Lefty-loosey.

That saying doesn't do me any good because I can't remember which direction is right or left. Maybe concentrating on the top edge will help except for things that aren't on a wall...lol. Otherwise, I look at it and it's obvious to me that while one side is moving right, the other side is moving left. Why would we even use the terms right and left when clockwise and counterclockwise are more appropriate? I've just never understood it and I'm almost 32. I expect I will always have to think really hard about it...lol.

I need two of everything because my INTP husband can't learn how to put things back where they belong..ever. And he probably isn't going to, so I've just learned to deal with it.

Ace Hardware has a nice line of tools suitable for the kitchen that are all girly and decorated with flowers. Apparently I'm not the only wife who has problems with family members taking those handy tools out of the kitchen junk drawer and then not putting them back.

Since I bought a couple of those tools, they stay in my kitchen junk drawer. There's a small hammer that has a handle that unscrewed to reveal screwdrivers...indispensible for those little fix-it jobs around the house!

That's why I started visualizing screws that way when I was a kid. Dad taught me that when we were wrenching on the car when I was probably 7 or 8. I never had a problem since then.
