I tried telling my sister about this, but I don't think she truly understands what I'm feeling.
Ok, bare with me you might be REALLY lost with what I'm about to say what I "feel and see". I've had it my entire life. Some days it's good and sometimes it's bad. I'm talking about the way I see my surroundings. for example my room, my house, the store, outside. It's a really weird feeling... Some places make me feel good and others not so good. But it can also change. Like a place that makes me feel "bad" will be "good" sometimes. Rarely it's VERY good to the point where I'll avoid certain things like certain places or music to keep the feeling. Some times it's bad and I feel uneasy and I wanna change it. I'll often say "no I don't wanna go there, that place makes me feel weird!" and no one knows what I'm talking about. Listening to certain songs can or being certain places can make me "feel it". I thought maybe their just good memories...but its not like that...it happens out of nowhere. Then I thought maybe it was my dreams that cause me to feel different. I tried looking up what it is...but I feel maybe its something to do with a type of synesthesia? or I'm just highly sensitive to my surroundings and "seeing" it in a good or bad way. I have no other way to explain it...it can last from anywhere to a few seconds to days! I feel like a real crazy person for even posting this lol I just want a name for it.

Interesting. Can you describe what kind of spaces you feel are "bad" or "good?" What do each have in common? Is there a preference for one sort of space over another?

Do you actually see something, or is it just a feeling?
I get extremely strong vibes in certain places sometimes. They don't seem to have any kind of rational grounding. I also find certain music can conjure up very precise/specific feelings for me - though I think this might just be some sort of nostalgia thing. Pretty sure I never see anything, it's just a feeling. It has also weakened somewhat as I've got older.. |

i have always had this as well. you're not alone. when i was younger, i was raised as a "born-again spirit filled christian" and that religion preaches about spiritual warfare and that there are angels and demons all around us. so when i was younger i would get "feelings" about places, people, events, certain aisles in a store, etc. i always attributed it to "spiritual" stuff. however, i am no longer practicing that religion, and i still get those feelings. i'll walk into a restaurant and get a vibe and need to leave. i'll be having a perfectly great time with people and someone (even a perfect stranger) will walk in and i feel immediately uncomfortable. i also avoid certain places because of these "feelings" "vibe" that i get. so far, after looking up a lot of psychology info, ive determined it has a lot to the with our iNution. i do believe we are more sensitive to things, and with our extraverted feeling and Fi, if youre a more sensitive person-you get it all at once. there was a thread in here about skipping over Te and going to Fi, and these are the types of circumstances this happens for me. i cant analyze it. i cant think it. i FEEL it. its still really unexplained to me other than realizing i may be more sensitive than most.

I know exactly what you mean. There are certain places that evoke moods and feelings, different places evoke varying types and degrees of "weird" or "cool." For example, what makes this particular place within my hometown "weird" to me is that it's a largely urban area, yet it has no big chain stores in it: no McDonald's or KFC or K-Mart, etc. I don't feel "right" being there too long (yes, globalisation's dug its claws deep into my brain. Sue me.) It's not synesthesia, but that's the closest thing to it I can deduce.

You're not alone. I am starting to wonder if intuitives have this ability more so over sensors. I tried explaining this to people through out the years, which is usually shrugged of as silliness. I refuse to enter certain places because they feel incredibly dark. Even cities, I have visited have these positive or negative vibes. I know one INTJ who tells me he can see and feel energy/feelings from places and people.

I had this with my house (before we sold it). Every time I entered, I felt a noticeable drop in my mood. I always assumed it was something to do with my brother, who was depressive and borderline personality disorder (or had the symptoms of it, at least), being in a bad mood an rubbing off on me. That, or negative associations with the place due to arguments, etc. But I've definitely experienced the same thing.

I can sort of relate to the OP, although I don't see anything. What you describe reminds me of the following description about the INTP's Si function:

Thank you for this thread, it is kind of insightful.
Being able to sense things like that can go beyond only human nature, it can extend to places and music too. I guess even I can't explain some of my intuitive experiences until today. Just let it be and try not to overthink it to the point of destruction. |

I do that too, especially in hotels and fast-food stores. Even more so in places with low celings.

Is it like a spiderman "spider" sense, except instead of feeling it you see it? Are there any colors associated with it?
I'd sure like to say I have something like this, but I can't (bummer). The closest I think I can come is a finely tuned common sense that keeps me out of trouble. |

I definitely "feel" this.
It's hard to explain really, a lot of times it's associated with traumatic events in my past. For instance a few years ago I won an award and was required to attend a ceremony at the local High School which I used to attend. I never liked the "feel" of the place to begin with, all the bad things that happened there afterwords only intensified it. As soon as I entered the building again for the first time in years I was in the grip of the most powerful anxiety attack I had felt in years, it was so bad I had to leave the building for most of the ceremony and only make a brief appearance to accept my reward. A house I lived in also had this feeling, and my cottage did for a time as well. I noticed when I had this "feeling" that strange things happened, the details of which I'd prefer not to go into. I also get feelings from people, for instance if a friend is near my intuition will cue that they're coming around the corner and they'll come, or if someone is calling for me my intuition will instantly recognize who they are and I will consciously pick up on that. Conversely, there are some people that give off very disturbing vibes, which I've noticed if I have my dog with me my dog also picks up on. These vibes made High School very hard to deal with because I'd feel the "weight" of all the people around me, pressing down. It's like the intuition picks up something about them, something unsettling. |

Sometimes if I'm in older places or thrift stores, I can feel weird and the feeling I get is not good. Or if I'm in a bad side of town.
I can see it. Sometimes I relate it to color.
Yeah as I was reading it, I noticed it was a lot like they way I feel. Just worded better:P |

I've gotten a vibe off of places. Like I was flying over Asheville, NC, I got a 'good people down there' vibe.
If I was a general leading an army I might've thought 'this place is too chill to conquer' To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. |

I get vibes all the time. I always figured it was my survival instinct taking a break when I felt a lighter, uplifting mood. And of course, working in overtime when I felt a bit darker about the place.
