  • Slow drivers in the fast lane.
  • People who don't know what they want when they get to the front of the que.
  • Clerks who talk on their blue tooth device while ringing up your sale.

I agree and on that note what is it with this herding instinct? For example you are walking down a passage when 4 people who are talking to each other have to walk next to each other which takes up the whole space of the passage!

Illogic. You don't get to pick and choose which parts of logic you want just so you can put up a front against me. Take it all, or don't take any of it.

emotive language in what is meant to be logical debate.

Ditto and people telling me I’m manipulating them with logic. Also:

  • Absurd levels of reductionism.
  • A lack of respect for my personal property.
  • People with no sense of proportion or justice.
  • Accusations of insanity.
  • Ayn Rand.
  • People incapable of separating artists’ personal failings from their creative accomplishments.
  • Hypocrisy.
  • Adjectives and adverbs where they don’t belong.
  • The wording of the title of this thread.
  • ...and many other things ad nauseum, ad infinitum.

Why is that unfair? What matters is the results, not the effort. Work smarter, not harder.

What pisses me off? That list could go on and on and on, but here's a few...for now:
  • People whose top priority in life is getting laid.
  • Limousine liberals who think they're somehow more sophisticated because they regularly hang out at the overpriced coffee shops.
  • People on MySpace who put up kinky pictures of themselves and then complain when they're being hit on.
    • If you don't want to get hit on, then logic suggests that you wouldn't post your slutty, Photoshopped pictures in the first place.
  • People who try to interpret abstract art just to impress their friends.
  • People who consider movies and video games to somehow be inferior to fine art.
    • The only reason Monet, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, DaVinci, etc. are considered high artists is because they're dead. (Today's movie directors and video game designers will be dead one day, too.)
  • MBTI geeks who somehow think that Intuitives are necessarily smarter and more logical than Sensors.
    • Actually, we have the FFM and its alleged correlation to the MBTI to blame for this.
  • People who equate prejudice with a lack of education
    • It doesn't make any sense -- there are prejudiced persons who are educated and intelligent, there are unprejudiced persons who are uneducated and unintelligent.
  • People who still slam Windows Vista long after the major bugs have been taken care of.
    • They also don't realize that the operating system demands much better hardware than XP.
  • Goths who brag about their individualism.
    • If you were an individualist, you'd probably be forming your own subculture.
  • People who see going to school as the only way of getting educated.
  • People who somehow think that reading a book is principally any different from watching the Discovery Channel or running a Google search on various topics.
  • The PC Nazis (who are worse than grammar Nazis) who crack down on anyone who says "wheelchair bound" instead of "vertically challenged" or "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays" or "B.C." and "A.D." instead of "B.C.E." or "C.E." It all means the same shit.
  • Limousine liberals who complain about Xmas music being played in a restaurant and, rather than allow the establishment to vote, they blatantly force the management to turn off the music.
    • This is something I have personally witnessed, actually.
  • School authorities who punish students for just seeming weird.
    • Why not save the disciplinary action for when a student actually physically harms another person?
    • If anything, it is this kind of oppression towards anyone who is unconventional that lets school violence happen.
  • People who tell me to read up on so-and-so if I express a certain idea. Why would I read someone else's similar idea if I had the same idea? It sounds like a waste of brain matter to me.
  • Apartments that allow children but don't allow pets. Trust me, children are infinitely more destructive than dogs.
  • Parents who bring their infants to the movies.
  • People who have no common sense to turn their cell phones off before the movie starts.
  • Psychologists who automatically predict people are at risk of being killers just because they have violent fantasies.
  • People who think sociopaths are necessarily dangerous.
    • That most criminals are sociopaths does not mean that most sociopaths are criminals.
  • People who brag about questioning why people find racist and sexist jokes are funny but never question why they or other people have sex for purposes other than procreation.
  • College students who are concerned about overpopulation, but never consider celibacy as a deterrent to overpopulation.
  • Promiscuous women who are surprised when they find out they are pregnant.
    • Actually, I find this sort of stupidity to be funny.
  • People who think science is the only answer.
    • They're no better than the people who think the Bible is the only answer.
  • People who think that having no friends is unhealthy.
  • People who watch American Idol.
  • People who watch Survivor.
  • People who prefer The Matrix over Tron.
  • People who think Weta Digital is a better effects shop than ILM.
  • People who somehow think that indie music is better than major labels.
    • I've listened to indie bands on MySpace -- trust me, there's a reason most of them are not popular.
    • It is entirely logical to assume that mainstream bands are better because they have more listeners, which means more people like them.
    • I conclude that supporting of indie anything is a simple case of snobbery in effort to feel superior.
  • People who claim classical literature (the stuff they make you read in school) is better modern literature.
    • I find all this "classic" literature to be hopelessly dull.
    • I also think that it is yet another example of people using unpopular media in an attempt to feel superior.
  • Civil rights activists who protest the Cleveland Indians mascot for being racist. Seriously, it's a cartoon. Get a life.
  • Football fans or sports fans, for that matter.
  • People who think of poetry as anything more than passive-aggressive behavior in writing.
  • People who make fun of others for farting.
  • People who claim children are innocent.
    • I've been around children, and I can assure you that they are not.
  • People who consider nude life drawings to be anything more sophisticated than pornography before the invention of cameras.
  • People who associate the phrase "You people" with racist connotations.
  • People who remember Machiavelli as a rapper.
  • People who remember Beethoven as a movie about a St. Bernard.
  • People who remember Homer as a poet and not a yellow-skinned cartoon character.
  • People who think Xmas ever had a deeper meaning beyond getting a bunch of extravagant gifts.
  • People who blame violent children on video games when they should be blaming the oppressive authorities.
  • People who think that people are basically good.
  • People who think I'm mean because I take advantage of them.
    • To be honest, I don't see why I should be any less cruel than the world.
  • And with 90 percent of what is written above taken into consideration, I HATE Lisa Simpson.

I would hate these people too if they actually existed - or at least enough of them to be worthwhile hating. I have never met anyone who said ‘Happy Holidays’ to avoid the supposedly politically incorrect connotations of saying ‘Merry Christmas’. I suspect these ‘PC Nazis’ are a fabrication of far right paranoids – to counter one reductive stereotype with another.

You might do so to explore the idea from another perspective or to be given sufficient distance from the idea to critique it objectively.

I find all this "classic" literature to be hopelessly dull.

Whilst I dislike snobs who attack modern or popular literature simply because it is modern or popular, I can’t see how attacking classic literature is any less generalizing. Have you really read enough so-called ‘classic’ literature to condemn it all as ‘hopelessly dull’?

How is poetry passive-aggressive writing?

Indeed; I also hate people who claim children are evil. Either way such reductionist stereotyping is flimsy.

Well, you agree with me on more issues than you don't, so I'll give you that.

Puzzling, however, is this one:

Have you ever seen that car commercial where the guy gets locked into a car with badgers? Those badgers were so cute...and the mother badger actually reminded me of my dachshund -- a dog that was specifically bred to hunt badgers.
