I finally got around to watching this movie, and I found it to be quite excellent. (I had no idea this movie existed until those YouTube Hiter parodies started getting attention).
I know there's the ongoing INTJf debate regarding whether Hitler was an INTJ or INFJ. I would have to say that the Hitler portrayed in the movie was very much INFJ. (I do not know how much accuracy there is with regard to what was said or done during the last days in the Berlin bunker). Der Untergang's Hitler wanted to build a human-based system, or re-engineer society in accordance with his own vision. He was efficient about it. But the efficiency only served his greater purpose or mission; the end product was not efficiency itself. No doubt, he was a drug addict and a nut job (as well as a mass murderer), but in the movie there were points where he seemed almost comical, or human at least--not the monster that he really was. I had to wonder about the actor, though. His performance was excellent. But it must have sucked growing up, hearing people around you say, "Hey... you look just like Hitler!" Has anyone else seen the move? What did you think of it? |

I've seen this movie a couple of years ago, so I can't recall many details, but I found it very interesting and well made. I've always been interested in WW2.

It really was a great movie. i was also exhausted, emotionally and intellectually, after having watched and seen the recreation of the immense destruction that occurred during the war. I feel one of the great strengths it had was just the fact that it stripped away a lot of the myths that sorrounds Hitler and made him more of a human. I think that probably made it even more frightening or depressing about the movie is that most of the people in Germany at the time were kind of just regular people who just ended up committing these horrible and despicable acts.
The actor is Bruno Ganz and he's actually swiss. He did a great job and he's also in some other pretty good movies. |
