Many people create links to other parts of this forum and some even lead to other sites.

How to create link like that ?

Copy and paste the web address from your browser. The forum software automatically converts the address to a link.

Well, you have two options:

a) The default is a check box when you post that automatically converts links.

b) Use the vb code [url]http://link[/url] yourself, which is what I normally do

Have a look here: http://intjforum.com/showthread.php?t=2446 to see what else you can do

For the sake of adding an extra layer of confusion, you can also use this format to make linkified text:
Code:
[URL="http://www.google.com/"]Insert text here[/URL]
The above code creates: Insert text here

Of course, you can replace the link and text with anything of your choice.

===============

snap.
Never having much used a bb, I've been puzzledwondering about this
... but, only in a vague way that didn't entail any actual:
  • understanding of how bboards worked
  • looking up of things
  • figuring out even that bb tags were similar to but not html (...and, having now done so, she is
  • realizing that lists is annoying... must be doing something wrong...it can't possibly be this complex....gar. Aha! found it! ...the order of tags actually matters in bulleted lists...interesting...)
Hmmm... can't get some vbcode tags that I found here and here to go here, like font and color. ie:
"[font=courier]word[/font]"
and

Code:
"[color=blue]word[/color]"
don't do anything. Are tags enabled/disabled by the specific bb's user/admin?

(*laughing* Thanks, melon and HackerX.... that was fun!)

Yes. Colors are disabled because we plan to add templates with different colored backgrounds in the future. Fonts only look the same if everyone has them installed. Since there isn't much of a point in using various fonts on the forum (and we prefer the look of the more visually consistent format), we have them disabled.

Letting the admin manage those settings makes the software more versatile....

Also, different colours and font's drive me (and most people) nuts. Most forums I'm on ban it.
