There's nothing racist in the law because it doesn't specify that the misrepresentation has to be about religion or race.

You could get into trouble with that law if you said you were a Hollywood star or a millionaire and you weren't too.

As to whether the law is applied well, I can't say. The Haaretz article I read didn't go that far.

btw, the woman pushed for prosecution, not the gov't.

I saw that article. And definitely got the "she's a racist" vibe. But, I do not get the rape conviction. If anything, charge the man with adultery. He was married at the time.

Of course, it could be that her potential meal ticket turned out to not be on the market, she did everything in her power to get back at him for 'using her'.

I can see where the 'rape' thing comes from. Would she have known the truth, she would not have slept with him. She was deceived into sleeping with someone she wouldn't have. It's a reach to be certain, but if you're going to play the game, you'd best expect to get played!

I expect not, but then, this isn't a part of the world where we invest such a great deal in our ancestry either.

When I date someone, it's always with the question at the back of my mind whether it's worth investing further time and energy in the relationship. I don't waste my time on liars or posers. What reason would I have to think that you wouldn't just keep lying, especially if we'd ever gotten to the point where we got married? What would come next? Hiking the Appalachian trail?

My guess is that you and I are decades apart but you must understand that there are many variables in relationships like looks, intelligence and personality that come into play. I was not intending to demean women when I said I lied to get laid but to point out that men, especially young men, think in terms of sex right now and ask questions later. As far as the ones with sensitivity and integrity, well, those were the guys that were probably gay and would not have made good husbands anyway.

Yes, we probably are decades apart. Our kids are probably close to your age though...you might find their views are not so far from mine.

I didn't think you were trying to demean women, btw, and I didn't intend anything personal. My response to you was more by the way of "hey, if it had be us, here's what would've happened" and no more than that.

My husband was young once. My son is now. Neither is gay. I wouldn't exactly call them sensitive, but integrity? Yeah.

I've never pursued "sex right now" and have been questioning related matters since I was 2-3. You don't have to like the dick to not be one. This isn't a shared experience but is kinda funny considering how many people, even here, consider me a dick precisely for not lying and playing common deceit games.
