Elementary to PhD studies:

Looking/acting/ trying to sound smart =/= being smart. Pretension is a very thin veil.

The more you learn, the more stupid you realize you are.

Undergraduate: got rid of any potentially existing gender delusions
Postgraduate: a true character forming exercise, learned to see the damn thing through, learned to work independently and improved my problem solving skills, detailed technical knowledge is the basis of new ideas

Motion is not the same thing as progress. Work smarter, not harder.

Matter is 99% empty space. A living, a career, is fundamentally 99% empty space too, and 1% of it genuinely matters and controls everything else.

Leverage the right 1% the right way, and you can change everything. One percent of any puppet is the puppet-strings, and that's all that matters!

High School: The "death stare" and a good right hook will keep people off of you.

College: You know the kinda-cute slightly-drunk girl who comes up to you at a party and says, "Why don't you like me?" Ten years later, at her wedding (to someone other than you), she's going to get slightly drunk again and tell you she really loved you in college and she wished she was marrying you. You're going to regret not going back to her place after that party. So go back to her place after that party, so that you can avoid coveting another man's wife. Hopefully.

Life: You're not the only one. Get over yourself.

High school: Being happy is a choice, not the direct result of one's surroundings.
College: Do things that scare you.

High School: Hard work can pay off
College: Hard work is nothing without applicable talent and interest in the thing you are doing.
