Yesterday I went to a middle eastern takeout place and I ordered beef shewarma. It said that on my receipt too. But when I got home, it turned out they gave me a chicken leg. I was upset about that. I really hate it when a restaurant gives me something totally different than what I ordered. I was really looking forward to the beef shewarma because I never had it before, but I have eaten chicken legs before. It wasn't too cheap either. I spent $8 on it. I can get a chinese takeout dinner for $5. I'm gonna check everything I get from now on. Also recently a girl at carl's junior got my order wrong too. Fortunately I checked it and made her give me the right food. It really burns me up when these restaurant people can't get the orders right. I hate incompetence.

That's what I do when I order carry-out of any kind. I can understand of someone makes a mistake. I suppose there are many things that could happen. It is usually too late or too much of a hastle to go back after I get home.

At Burger King, they often forget the dip and the whole grain-bread. We always check the bags before leaving.

Many years ago, there was a DQ not to far from my house and I would sometimes stop there on the way home. At least three times I ordered a burger, got home with it, opened it up, and found they did not put the meat in the thing. How do you 'forget' to put the burger on a burger?

Yes, it is irritating to get the wrong food. For any takeout and delivery, I always check which somehow manages to offend the people delivering or prepping. Tough.

Yep, I learned that lesson the hard way. Only thing you can really do to improve the situation would be to have a polite word with the manager the next time this happens...

When this has happened to me and I didn't find out until I got home, I called the place right away and explained the mistake. I brought back the wrong food, was given the correct food, and a coupon for a free meal next time. So, always let them know.

I hate it when they screw up your order at a restaurant. Do you sit and wait for them to re-do it while the others in your party proceed to eat their meals? Or do you just suck it up and take one for the team?

Even speaking with a manager isn't going to guarantee that human error will never occur again. But it might get you a free meal. As it should.

One time I ordered a meal from a McDonalds drive through, and left without checking the bags. Well, it turns out I got a WHOLE BAG FULL OF HAPPY MEAL TOYS. No food, just about 15 toys.

I don't know if they thought they were funny, or they were trying to tell me something, but I was hungry and NOT "happy" with this "meal".

I was near a park, so I was tempted to hawk the toys to gullible little kids there for $1 a toy (and profit a total of $5 from this ordeal). But with my luck...well, I don't think being on the Sex Offender Registration has many perks. So I just went home and made my dog's day.

I like trying new foods, so if it looks good/is something I wouldn't mind eating, I don't really care.

Unless it was something I was really craving, but even then, food is food and I'm not that picky at all.

El Pollo Loco.

Got some food to go. My side Dish of Beans was a teaspoon of beans and half a cup of bean water.

I get kinda happy when pizza places deliver the wrong pizzas. They let you keep them and bring back the ones you really ordered. *greedy eye gleam*

Of course... I'm a poor starving university student so any opportunity of free delicious food is usually met with smiles.

I otherwise don't really care when my order is mistaken. I've been a barista, I know how orders can get screwed up along the chain of communication and it happens and I can deal.

Mess ups happen. I'll make a mistake every other shift or so, and I really hate noticing I had made it once my mental checklist catches up during the busy times.

Also, sometimes the mess ups turn out to be better!

I am at the moment writing a lengthy indictment against our century. When my brain begins to reel from my literary labors, I make an occasional cheese dip.

Ha! Oh man, that is worse than the wrong food. At least when it's the wrong food, you still have a meal. But no meat in a hamburger bun? Nooooooo!

Worse meal mess-up I ever had was pizza. The pizza guy came, I paid and he practically ran away. Open up the pizza to find that it had fallen during transportation and was now shoved into a corner and a blob of cheese, sauce, and bread.

I ate it anyway. It was still delicious.

Wrong food isnt generally a problem unless im either allergic to what they give me or cant eat it due to dietary restrictions. Most times i just call up the place if it delivery or just talk to someone and say hey i didnt order this. I dont mind waiting, even if im with a group and I generally eat faster than most so i can make up the time. Really it isnt that big of a deal. People make mistakes, cooks make the wrong food or can't read the waitresses/waiters handwriting. People are full of error and getting pissy about it doesnt solve anything. You know why my food is rarely ever wrong, because I dont get pissy, i politely walk up, bring up my issue and wait patiently for the issue to be resolved. I dont expect free stuff, just the right stuff. I generally refuse manager assistance.

I know how you feel! I order unsweetened tea at drive thru's all the time. I order it unsweet for a reason, dang it! At least 50% of the time it is sweet. I take the first sip and gag on the surgar....and get so mad. How hard is it??? It takes twice the time to go back , usually wait in line either inside or in the drive thru....while I am steaming! A waste of my time and money. Yes I know , I usually put the strw in and take a sip first, but sometimes I am in a hurry. The real pisser....I ALWAYS ask them as they hand me the drink...are you sure this is unsweet?

i was working late one night, and i stepped out to DQ to get a burger. i specifically asked for no bacon on mine (i can't eat it for religious reasons), and when i drive back to work and unwrap my burger, guess what i find. yes. EXTRA bacon.

i was so in the zone, i didn't bother eating any dinner at all. i kept working till about 11 before my senior asked me to go home.

people make mistakes. its never worth holding mistakes against them.

I'm not a picky eater and I'm a little passive when it comes to correcting people's mistakes so I usually do nothing at all. My mother would always call to complain and as a result we would always get special coupons, but I always resented her for such. Going further back in time I recall moments that might have strongly influenced my behavior regarding such matters. My mother is scattered brain and impulsive so she isn't the best food orderer at a fast food drive-through and my father is short tempered so such instances were often hectic. My younger brothers are all picky eaters and they made they made it all the more difficult to order and when an order got mixed up and my brothers whined, my father became angry. To avoid such I always just ordered what was the simplest to order and never complained. I recall another memory of when I was about a 3rd grader where I was at a friend's house and for dinner a dish was served that I despised, but I pretended otherwise to avoid hurting anyone's feelings, but most of all I didn't want to be an inconvenience. I'm still the same way and often the mistakes have played out in my favor. Finding an extra mystery burger is fun and sometimes you get better meals than you ordered. I once was given the wrong change back on the order of netting over seventy dollars.

When I go back to Express Chicken (the middle eastern place that got my order wrong) I'm gonna do my best not to look pissy and check my order in my car so I won't offend them. The people there look like very nice people. They do make tasty food and seem to do a lot of business.

After Chicken Express, I tried a lamb kabob dinner at Skaf's Grill, another local middle eastern place. Skaf's Grill seems to be by far the most highly rated mediterranean restaurant in my area according to reviewers on the internet, but the dinner cost $13 and wasn't as tasty as the food from Express Chicken.

Had an absolute nightmare a couple of weeks ago, a mate and I were on a long drive. Stopped at a burger king, ordered two burgers, drive off without checking the bags and there's only one in there. Disaster. I was driving but unfortunately my threats to crash the car were not taken as seriously as i had hoped and i ended up with a measly third.

If they are nice people, they may not mind you checking the order. Especially if you say you didn't get what you ordered last time. A happy customer is a returning customer.

As for me, I always check my purchase to make sure I got what I ordered. Depending on what it is, I either check at the counter, or check in the car. That's if I cannot stand there and watch them put it together in the first place. For example, I've never been able to stand pickles. (least the kind they serve in American fast food places) So I always ask for "no pickles". And invariably if I do not watch closely, there they are. Contaminating my food.

Not just restaurants though. I do the same when I buy small portable electronic items. Years ago I bought a wireless access point for the house, only to find a telephone book in the shrinkwrapped box when I got home. Nowadays, I stop at the security desk and open it right there before leaving the store. Its kept me from having to bring things back on a few occasions.

I used to get pretty upset about mix-ups on my orders............when it happens now I just think about all the folks around the world who are going to bed hungry tonight because they don't have anything to eat..........

I went out to eat with my sister today. Both of our orders were messed up. It wasn't a big deal, but we just said it wasn't what we ordered. We weren't upset or mean about it. Mistakes happen. We both got free dessert out of the deal. I'm not one to say no to free dessert.

I've worked in restaurants before. Sometimes orders get messed up. It happens, but there's no need to be mean about it.
