Sometimes I find myself getting the deer in the headlights look from a person I'm talking to. Then they blurt out how random I am. Like they honestly have no idea what I'm talking about. Of course I know exactly what chain of events led to the current conversation, but some seem completely unable to make the jump with me.
This just makes me to scream, "no, I'm not random ... you're just too stupid to follow my train of thought!" But usually it's just easier to nod and smile. Does this drive anyone else nuts? Disclaimer: yes, I get that not everyone is good at connecting the dots and it may not affect their actual intelligence at all, but I don't care. I still feel like I'm talking to an idiot, even if it's my fault for not being more clear. |

Yes, it drives me bonkers, too. I never quite developed the ability to tolerate stupid, even in myself. |

Not at all, I am quite amused by being called random, it makes me feel cherished, like a little kid you think is so adorable even though you have no idea what the heck they're up to.

I used to have that reputation because of my abysmally poor conversational style during lunch at school. I hated that lunch was so long, really a waste of time.

I'll bet this happens a lot more often when you are talking to males than females...

What bothers me more about these people is they say random when they mean to say arbitrary.

I hated that lunch was too short. If you were getting the school food and were one of the last in the line you wouldn't have time to eat it. |

Random? I'm called Random...Sage. But seriously, I'm also called random all the time. It also doesn't help that I talk extremely fast and do not enunciate. Also that people say I use "big words" in conjunction with conversations that other people seem to think are hard to follow.

I personally enjoy people who I consider to be random. They usually say something I can make fun of, or get into a discussion about.

I would say I agree with that. But only if they are random verbally, instead of random as far as their actions are concerned.
