The most interesting and relevant part of this article is this:

For me, the lesson of stuttering is that obstacles can also be advantages, that who we become is deeply influenced by what we cannot do. (Or, to quote the sage words of Kanye, "Everything I'm not/made me everything I am.") The secret is to struggle through, because the very act of raging against a disadvantage generates its own set of skills.

I have severe adult ADD. The skills I've developed to cope for my disability have given me hyperabilities in some regards. I think it's interesting to think about what we consider our personal weaknesses as, in other terms, our secret strengths.

What weakness do you have, and how has it made you stronger?

OCD. Being consistently organized and scheduled is very handy.

I have Tourette's Syndrome, and OCD. As a mathematician who develops algorithms to detect, characterize and exploit patterns, I think that always being "awash in patterns", and wanting to interact with them has actually been helpful. What most people would see as annoying and intrusive associations I have turned into allies in my research.

Of course, this means that I'm "working" most of the time. But I love what I do, and I can do it anywhere, anytime. No one can even tell; they think I'm listening to their babbling, so they drone on... only my wife has learned to recognize when I am not "engaged" with the outer world (she says I'm in "MathLand").

The only bothersome aspects are that my left hand and arm sometimes have a mind of their own (sort of like "Dr. Strangelove", though not quite as bad as that.) If it starts acting up when I'm lecturing or speaking, I just put it behind my back.

I probably have some of what you're having. I've never been interested enough to get someone to diagnose it though. Add ADHD to the mix too, it's mandatory for the 21st century teenager.

Chronic depression directly related to stress levels.

I have amazing time management skills (assuming I use them) and know exactly how to reduce stress because of it.

My main weakness is procrastination. It's served to show me how to move mountains in a split second, and accomplish things in a very short timeframe that others require hours, days, or weeks to do.
