I took the Myers Briggs in college in the 80's and it made more sense than any other psychological profile I've ever had. Since then, I've taken it and the Kiersey Sorter a dozen times or so, with consistent results.
I'm a strong NT, very high on both, until my 30's I was a pretty strong "I", but have overlaid that with learned "E" behavior, which I understand is typical for INTs. I usually come out about even on the P/J scale, I think I'm sort of high on each if that's possible, or at least I don't score much higher on one than the other. Anyway, why am I here? I'm separated from my wife for the moment, and have a past divorce (with two children) that wasn't pleasant. Anyway, I feel I know myself very well, but I still have some difficulties in relationships. I'm fine with people on a 1-1 basis usually, and I'm much better in groups than I ever was as a kid. I'm here to talk with people like me who have found ways to make relationships work with others. And if I wind up dating again I'd like to do a better job next time. Glad to be here. |

Welcome, pchoate! Glad to have you.
![]() Yeah, it's usual for the test results to get less extreme as one ages; I suppose we learn to compensate for our "weaknesses", in a manner of speaking. ![]() P/J don't really mean anything by themselves; they are a sort of lens through which the other letters are filtered. You can look into Jungian function theory if you wish to learn more about that. The long and short of it, though, is that you can't, by definition, be both P and J. I hope we can be of use to you; the Relationships & Dating section will probably be your main target. Though I warn you that there are a number of threads created by virgins about their first crush, there are a number of gems to find. ![]() I hope you enjoy. |

Thanks Rudy. Married to on off-the-charts "J" - She constantly amazes me how she has *everything* labled in black or white in her mind. I am very judgemental on some stuff, but not so much about people.
Am a active member of a local online group that's 80% under 30, so I'm used to the teenage angst stuff. Pretty funny to me usually, but I was a high school math teacher for a few years back in the day and have always liked kids. Thanks for the "Relationships & Dating section" pointer. See you around. |

Sac is heading towards the 100šs! Otherwise, it's a beautiful city to ride a bike in. ;-)

J doesn't actually stand for judgmental, but I find those with strong Si and/or Te are often very black and white in their thinking.
You'll find a fair number who are over 30 here and even those who are over 50, check out the Older INTJs thread in Members Only once you have enough posts. |
