Is there a way to display all new/unread threads, as opposed to unread posts in threads both new and old?

You mean like opening a thread directly to the next unread post? If so clicky on the arrow next to a thread with unread posts and it'll do just that.

I mean a way to quickly find new threads/topics that have been created since last visit. I click the "Display Unread Posts" at the top right and find myself skimming the list in search of threads that I haven't seen before.

I'm not aware of a way to only search for threads where you haven't read any of the posts. It seems like what you would need to do is run a search where only the first post id is unread, but I don't know of a search variable that will do this. I will let you know if I find something.

@Jez --

It sounds like it might work for khadi if she could list all the threads that have been started since her last visit, and "sort results by thread start date" and "show results as threads" are available options at the bottom of the Advanced Search page -- but the missing piece (I think) is that there doesn't seem to be an ability to search for all threads (rather than just the threads with a particular search term, or by a particular user) sorted in that way.

@khadi --

There's an existing feature that I think comes close to what you want, but you have to do it on a subforum-by-subforum basis. At the bottom of each subforum page there's a Display Options box. If you set the Sorted By box to "Thread Start Time" (and make sure the Sort Order box is set to "Descending"), then hit the Show Threads button, you'll get a list of the threads in that subforum with the most recently started threads at the top of the list.

These search strings seem to work:

http://intjforum.com/search.php?&do=getnew&sortby=threadstart
This one will search for all your unread posts and display the most recently started threads at the top rather than the most recently updated. The problem is that it doesn't know to omit threads you've already seen; if you read a thread on the list it will be marked as read and disappear, but it will reappear on the list after someone posts in it again.

http://intjforum.com/search.php?&do=process&replyless=2&replylimit=0&se archdate=lastvisit&sortby=threadstart
This one will search for all threads updated since your last visit with the most recently started threads listed at the top, with the threads marked as read remaining on the list.

Those links are awesome jez, THANKS!. Any chance you could make them more user friendly(so that I don't have to go back to this thread to click them)? I would certainly be a regular user...
