Other INTJ artists?

Wondering if there are any other INTJ artists out there. Sculptors, painters, drawers, etc.

What artist do you admire the most. Any you try to emulate in style or reference in your work? Is there a particular artistic style you like (modern, baroque, surreal)?

I am a fairly good drawing artist. I work in pencil and charcoal. I tried painting, but found it difficult to work with the large marks that a brush makes. I prefer to sketch in tiny details, so that the picture looks good even when closely inspected.

I might like sculpture, but I have not yet had the resources for it. Give me a big piece
of wood and some sharp objects, and I'll see what I can do!

I make realistic art. I do not like most abstract art, though I find some of the surrealist works very interesting. It takes imagination, and occasionally it ends up looking appealing. Rembrandt, Leonardo Da Vinci, Monet, Michaelangelo, Hopper and Remington are among my favorites.

It is detailed and realistic-looking, but the overall scenes have a surreal and highly imaginative quality. I like the bright colors, too.

I paint in acrylics, I don't like oils as it takes to long to dry. I paint semi-realistic, stylized and abstract. I also do pencil sketches. I would still like to try do surrealism. My favourite artist is Vincent van Gogh. I also like Salvador Dali and Peter the Elder.

I took art classes in college (community college), I enjoyed using Prismacolor markers, because acrylics and oils just made me too impatient. I tend to prefer cartoon style, anyway. Here are a few drawings I did:

I do wheelformed ware (I love the dexterity that it requires to produce an aesthetically pleasing piece that works - such as a teapot) and handformed - fairly realistic stuff but with some other layer of interpretation/abstraction (eg playing with scale and surface texture.

There's real technology involved in glazes - down to knowing the molecular weights and then lots of understanding of the firing temp and technique to get the desired effect.

It satisfies all aspects of my brain / eye / tactile needs.

I also do ink, pastel, crayon and pencil drawings. And some painting.

I also do photography as art, and photoshop to augment it.

Haha, I can relate. I studied sculpture in college and (to my professor's annoyance) ended up spending more time on researching new glazes and trying to get the materials for them. Even was annoying people in the chemistry department for powdered copper at one time. I was incredibly interested in making raku ware at the time, the firing process was interesting in and of itself, and I loved the fact that you could get different effects from it depending on what materials you would reduce the body in. One thing I've wanted to experiment with is salt firing, but was never able to since it would effectively destroy an electric kiln due to the vapors produced. That and getting a kiln to 2350°F is a bit much.

Maybe if I had the land to do it I could construct a traditional wood fired kiln...

Right now I am unable to pursue any sculpture due to not having the facilities for it. So I've been doing more painting, mostly in inks on paper, taking a lot of inspiration from Chinese brush painters.

I spent a little more than two years putting together a film and now I'm at a loss as to how to get people to see it. I want to stay away from uploading the whole thing to YouTube or something for a while . . . the current goal is to get a screening together on my college campus, and to send it through a film festival or two assuming I can find a reasonable one (that won't, for example, charge $70 just to be judged for one of 20 screening slots or something).

i m a student taking art as part of my subject combination. my favorite art movements are impressionist and post impressionist but i find pop art's quite fun too.
i think the MBTI personality test system hasn't been created yet when many famous artist were still alive, if not, i would really want to know what van gogh is.

da vinci might be an intj, do you agree?

Da Vinci was definitely a P. We had a lecture on him at our school. Such a P. His canvas preparation recipe was just hilarious. His paintings cracked, most of his intenvions wouldn't work, but he was so imaginative... XNTP. I would say maybe INTP because he didn't finish half of his work either. But he could be an E.

Here is the recipe (I have trouble believing it was not a piss take ... but definitely written by him) :
One coat of mastic in white turps
Three coats of grappa (acqua vitae) and arsenic
One liberal coat of boiled linseed oil
One thick coat of white varnish, applied with a stick
When dry, wash the whole with urine.

To come back to the point, I draw (graphite and charcoal), oil paint, some ink (I would love to learn stuff like chinese painting and calligraphy - whether asian, arabic...). Photography too but not as much. I definitely want to become better at it though.

I love impressionism. If you guys get the chance to go to the Orangerie in Paris, where Monet's huge nympheas are hung in spherical rooms (the paintings just surround you, no end and no beginning), give it a try. It talks to the senses directly, something I find hard to find in visual art.
Big fan of art nouveau too. Some abstract stuff I like too, though not most of it.

Abstract and sculpture for me. I can sketch quite well, but really prefer messing around with either a large brush, thick acrylics and butcher paper or wire/metal/wood/fabric.

My art is generally of the geometric (generally squares or mathematical curves) or the blobs of colour kind.
I like colour and find that this is a rather more effective way of exploring it.

I'm going to NSCAD University this fall, which is an art school. I'm taking film production, but on the side I still do artwork, which is required by the school.

I enjoy being creative. I draw and paint. I write poetry (been writing since a teen so I have over hundred or so). I like to write stories but I lose interest fast and tend to not complete them. I have sculpted a few things, very simple things.

Art is not my career. Many have told me I should have gone that route, but I am incredibly practical and decided only to pursue it as a hobby.

I am self taught and it shows at times for sure.

I prefer drawings used to tell a story, such as in comics and cartoons, so naturally my style is directed towards that. I decribe it as a healthy mix between Eastern and Western styles, the beautiful and honest expressions of Manga combined with the fluidity, dynamics and rich texture of modern European comics... or at least that's what I'm aiming towards.

Something I finished the other day in like two hours. I tend to draw and paint my picture first with watercolors and ink, then transfer it to Photoshop for digital painting and rendering.
