I notice I come off harsher here on the forum than I would in real life. Normally I do care some about what people around me think and how they feel (even if I mess up handling them from time to time). Here though, I think I speak a little more naturally. Its mostly NTs here and I don't expect most people to be hurt or affected much, if I come off strongly or disagree with them.

I'm more social here than in real life.

If someone comes off harshly to me I have the opportunity to let myself calm down before a response is necessary. I can observe people here without coming off as unsettling, and approach people for friendships without much fear of rejection. If a conversation starts to go in a way I feel hurt by, I can always just leave that thread, and read a more pleasant one.

It's almost entirely about the timing and eye contact issues, really.

I'm not different except for the fact I appear to talk more here then to others in the outside world. Most likely because there is posts to engage in that everyone wants to engage in at the moment while in the physical realm it's a bit harder to find many people that interested in discussing such issues.

Same. There's no reason to be any different since cyberspace is anonymous.

Like the majority of those upthread, I'm far more outspoken and critical here on the forum than in "real life," mostly because I can be. Beyond the virtual walls of this forum I cannot; my paycheck depends on it, and I don't want to waste time and energy defending myself to those that take issue with my true, usually less popular opinions and ideas...

I'm pretty much the same here as in RL. Of course it is easier to be a little more harsh on an internet forum than straight to someone's face, but I rarely ever alter my pimp OG stylez.

My public real-life persona is about the same as on the forum, except I keep my opinions to myself there. My private real-world personality is alot different. On forums I do alot of self-censorship, so that people get a taste of my thoughts but not the whole story. But in private with someone who knows everything about me, I have no qualms about saying exactly what I think regardless of how offensive or politically incorrect it is. If I did that here I'd be banned eventually, not to mention everybody would hate me. I'm not quite sure how I come across to other people online, I just can't tell what other people think of my internet persona.

Mostly the same, except that I'm perhaps a little colder and more intellectual here, but that's just because I know who I'm speaking to.

Far more aggressive in person. I tend to hold back and rewrite here, solidifying thoughts. IRL I am more prone to word stream and dominating a conversation by positioning socratically.

Although I haven't been a member of this forum for very long, I find myself speaking up about things that strike a chord with me. Normally I cannot do so in real life since it wouldn't go over too well. I feel I can be more like myself here than anywhere else, online or offline.

I am probably more engaging and humorous IRL. And when im in a feisty mood (or drunk) I tend to say more offensive or judgmental things. But in the forums I must take the time to type out my thoughts, so they come out more refined. And unlike the forums, I am in my life everyday.

When speaking casually, I'm the same wherever I am, for better or worse. Professional situations are different.

this is pretty much me. i used to show my emotions much more on here (on my blog) than i do at all in reality. but besides that, i am pretty much the 'personality' in real life that i am on this forum. especially now that i'm over that crazy emotional roller coaster phase, ha.

I interact more with people in real life. I follow more discussions on the forum, but usually zone out in real life.

I answer to a better name, ignore about the same amount of nonsense as online, find that the percentages for indifference, disdain, laughter and love to be rather equivalent in both realms, and while slightly less terse here, use my hands more when I do speak, there.

gesticulates madly~

I am very random either way ... but at least online I get to look at what I'm saying before I post it, so I don't say that many cringe-worthy things online!
I think I am also more emo online :embarassed:

Do you think being the same on/offline is a conscious choice? Actually I wonder! Because sometimes I think people have a telephone persona and an irl persona too.

In real life I barely discuss. Why make the effort there if most people either don't appreciate it or are stupid. I'm quite a quiet and distant lad.

On forums I discuss because that's what forums are for.

On this forum I'm particularly cold and aggressive discussing because I love it, and I know I'm in good company for that
